BOYS I AM STILL CRYING INSIDE TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY WILL BE VERY TOUGH FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.NOW THAT BEING SAID I HAVE TO SHARE A FUNNY MOMENT WITH YOU GUYS.MY WIFE IS A SAINT AND HAS DONE VOLENTEER WORK AT OUR LOCAL CHURCH.FATHER RYAN IS A CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND BUT HE NEVER LIKED ME HE ACTUALLY ENCOURAGED MY WIFE NOT TO MARRY ME IMAGINE THAT FROM A PRIEST.WELL FELLAS HERE IS ONE OF THE FEW TIMES I HAD TO LAUGH THIS WEEKEND EVEN MY FATHER WOULD HAVE LAUGHED AT THIS.TODAY I WENT TO MASS WITH MY WIFE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A WHILE WE ARRIVED 20 MINUTES EARLY SO WE COULD TELL FATHER RYAN ABOUT MY FATHER.FATHER RYAN WAS VERY NICE AND ADDED MY FATHERS NAME TO THE SERVICE.

I HAVE KNOWN FATHER RYAN FOR YEARS SO I KNEW THERE WOULD BE A CATCH SOMEWHERE FOR ALL HIS KINDNESS WELL HERE IT GOES.

I WALKED INTO CHURCH WITH 25 BUCKS IN MY POCKET MY WIFE ASKED ME IF I HAD COLLECTION MONEY I TOLD HER I HAD 5 BUCKS FOR THE BOX.BOYS I CANT MAKE THIS UP I PUT MY 5 DOLLARS IN THE COLLECTION BOX THEN MY WIFE SAYS JIM THEY ARE DOING A DOUBLE COLLECTION TODAY. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DEAR SHE EXPLAINED SOME WEEKS THEY DO A DOUBLE COLLECTION FOR THE CHURCH.I SAID LISTEN HONEY ALL I HAVE LEFT IN MY WALLET IS 20 DOLLARS NO WAY AM I GOING TO GIVE THE CHURCH 25 DOLLARS FOR A DOUBLE COLLECTION.MY WIFE SAID IT WAS NICE FOR FATHER RYAN TO MENTION YOUR FATHER JUST PUT THE MONEY IN THE BOX.BOYS MY FATHER WOULD HAVE WENT CRAZY ON ME IF HE FOUND OUT I PUT 25 DOLLARS IN THE COLLECTION BOX FOR A DOUBLE COLLECTION SUNDAY I HAD NO CHOICE.I HAVE TO ADMITT AFTER THE MASS THE 25 DOLLARS DIDNT BOTHER ME I JUST WISH THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WOULD HAVE INFORMED ME ABOUT THE DOUBLE COLLECTION THEN I COULD HAVE BROUGHT 2 FIVE DOLLAR BILLS WITH ME.

BOYS I MISS MY FATHER ALREADY I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS STORY WITH YOU IT MAKES ME FEEL A LITTLE BETTER.

HOW MANY OTHER CATHOLICS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DOUBLE COLLECTION TRICK AT SUNDAY MASS.THANKS AGAIN FATHER RYAN FOR ALL THE KIND WORDS ABOUT MY FATHER.

Thats a funny story Jim-

Yes, I have experienced the double collection thing a few times too. Usually it was when I was with my parents they would put $5-20 in the plate and I would have to match it. I always figured wasn't it okay if just one family member put the money in the plate? Not so if you're with your parents and they think you should match it.

Glad to see you're in good spirits and having a laugh, it helps when you've lost a loved one. I know from first hand experience.

I don't go to a Catholic church, we just get hit with the two bucket system where I go, one for the regular offering and the other is for the building fund.

Being Catholic I've got a few good stories relating to money and the church.

When my Mom turned 50, she wanted to start her life over. She went to the church to look into getting the divorce she had from my father many years earlier acceptable to them. I don't know all the specifics but I nearly shiet myself when she told me it was going to get the ok but it would take several hundred dollars. I told her I would get an official looking certificate made and framed saying she was divorced and that it was ok now. She could pay me half of what she was forking over to the church. This way we could both make well from the situation.

You feel bad with double collection. The church I go to had triple collection on one Sunday of the month for most of last year. The day chosen seem to skip around a little so they could catch the ones that were trying to dodge the bullet. :cursin:
