Blitz, I to have had this problem in the past and usually it was programs that I didn't even know were running. As per Redking's advice, I just recently added 256MB of memory and haven't had any problems since. My computer only had 64 MB from the factory and the extra memory seemed to help solve the problem. I also got rid of all unnecessary files that freed up alot of disk space. I'm sure Redking could help you more, but this might be a good start. Good Luck

Re: Computer Help

Gonna need more info. Maybe ask your bro in law to post?

Does this happen everytime he starts the browser? What browser? Are you 100% sure it's Win98? Any other programs open when he starts the browser? What Internet service provider?

Re: Re: Re: Computer Help

Hey Blitz,

Glad to help! 96 is kinda low. I have Windows 98 and I'm using Internet Explorer with my cable modem and everything is smooth :weed:

Would suggest upgrading the ram and uninstalling programs he doesnt use anymore (Netscape? AOL? Gator?). Bring it to a local small time computer shop or try asking for help in the math/science class of your local high school? Some whiz kid could recommend what RAM to buy and install it for ya for a few bucks.

I'd do it for free but I don't think you'd want to pay for my airfare?!?

kurby

Always here if you got more questions/problems.
