as you can see from my numbers, the nfl has been very unkind to smitty this year. so i present my fades as a public service announcement. enjoy.

chicago (-3) 2 units. holy crap, this is tough. rex grossman sucks. flat out sucks. the only thing he does well (besides turning the ball over) is throw the deep ball. but they only take a few shots per game. the saints are the feelgood story of the year. but when everybody and their grandmother is on one side (and that side is the underdog), and the line drops only half a point (then comes back UP to the original line)... there is only one side to be on. i can offer no logical explanation. since losing brown and harris, the bears defense is not nearly as stout. however... the saints really are not that good a team. so somehow... some way... rex grossman is going to play in the super bowl. did i really just type that?

new england (+3) 2 units. obviously this is not the same patriots team as we saw earlier this decade. but this is not the same colts team either. the colts are still moving the ball almost at will up and down the field, but they continue to stall in the red zone. and manning just does not play well in the playoffs. unlike kc and baltimore, new england will not abandon the running game today. they will pound away wtih dillon and maroney and brady will be mr. clutch in the 4th quarter.

ne/indy under (47) 2 units. see above. new england's offense is struggling and i expect to see a lot of field goals today.
