HI

I am confused as to what to do. I have several off shore accounts. For ease of use I prefer Olympic but have been told that this is a very sharp book with few deals. ie. agressive lines

At the suggestion of a friend of ours on here I switched to another book, Carib.

Also I had a similar experience at Betonsports to what others have said about rounding dollars down... which is a total rip.

I saw in the string about CRIS concerning rounding down and rip offs that WSEX, Carib and Sports Interaction were best books for small players.

What I want to do is to be able to place any amount on a specific wager to win whatever. NOT be forced to place to win bets of 5, 10, 15 etc. I know that Olympic allows this .. and now after reading the string I see that Sports Interaction also allows this. Also is there a book that allows you to do this that has fair lines as well?

I have been at Carib for several months now. It is an easy book to use but the software is forcing me to play at a higher level than I am comfortable with when I make balanced plays of equal amount with varying moneylines.

I am tempted to just go back to Olympic. I like the software and ease of use. Also have experience with their payouts .. fast and easy. And I do not think that they are likely to suddenly close without any warning as some books have done recently.

Can anyone compare SI to Olympic and possibly recoomend one over the other? Or recommend an additional book that offers what I want?

Are there any other books that would allow me to place balanced plays with varying moneylines without having to "tweak' my bet amounts to make them of equal increments. If I want to bet four games at $25.38 or $6.15 or $137.98 that's what I want to do. I am sure that every ONE Of these books could offer this option if they wanted to.

Thanks for any input

AzRusty,

I don't think you can go wrong by sticking with Olympic although if you are searching for another book I would recommend Canbet.

They are regulated by the Australian govt
They accept bets in most currencies
They accept nearly all deposit methods
They accept exact amount bets (which is one of your main requirements)
They have attractive lines
They have a fast and reliable website
They have excellent customer service
They have prompt payouts

www.canbet.com

There are some other very solid books and hopefully some more posters will add their thoughts/comments based on personal experience.

AZ...............I don't know a lot of books that allow you to bet amounts with cents, ie $25.38. You are really limiting yourself and your options........is it really that important to you to bet 25.38 instead of $25 ?? or $25 instead of $23 ?? Perhaps it is, as that is the theme of your post.........It is just my opinion that you are shutting yourself out of dealing with some good books, Carib included. ( I have found their baseball lines to be somewhat less "sharp" than Carib) You are not giving good books who offer 10 cent lines a chance (Olympic is not 10 C ). You can probably (surely) make up the difference in whatever you may lose when you go $25 instead of $23 by taking a better line.........a 10C line instead of a 20C adds up VERY, VERY QUICKLY. Do the math & see if this would work for you. Also, Try to still keep more than one book if you can........As you know, lines differ sometimes as much as 15 to 20 cents from book to book. There's nothing like getting the best deal for your $$$. And storm season is coming up, you dont want to be caught with no action if lines are down for your only book. GL & Hit Em..THE HITMAN

** I just re read your post & saw the varying moneyline part. perhaps I misunderstood part of your wants. Still, tho, it seems to be that anything other than a "normal" straight bet lets some extra vig wiggle its way in there somehow.

Thanks for the posts

Thanks for the posts

I just re upped with Olympic because it was easiest and fastest to do but will probably open an account in a few days with Canbet.

OK.. I switched to Carib a few months ago. I am by my own admission a very small player. Sometimes make plays as high as 50 or 100 and yes.. have made plays as high as 800. But my USUAL daily plays are between 10 and 50 dollars. I switched to Carib because I had been told that their baseball lines were not as "sharp" as Olympic's. Actually, I was told that Olympic will eat me alive with their sharp lines and that I needed to find a site that was more player friendly.

The way I have been placing my bets at Carib is:

I take my plays for the day.. there may only be two, three or four. I decide what I think my bet increment should be for the day also factoring in the 3*, 4* or 5* descriptions.

Then I would go to each game.. place your bet... and list all the increments available with that money line. 10 dollars to win 5, 20 dollars to win 10 etc.

On a sheet of paper under each heading for the teams I would lay out what I had to bet for each game and then look across the list attempting to find a match for the amount I wanted to play. With varying money lines trying to match the exact amount I want to play is just simply impossible. And often I would be tempted or forced to play at a much higher level than I wanted to play. ie instead of betting 15 or 20 dollars per game I would end up betting 30 or 50 a game. And this is NOT working for me. I've had great weeks and built my account up only to crash it when I made double plays or triple plays following the system at a higher amount than my account balance justified. YES... I have asked my self .... Well...at the level you are playing you are just betting too much! Yep.. but in order to balance the plays without being able to "dial" in the amount that I want to play I find myself laying more than I should.

For the small player who wants to play balanced plays books that don't allow you to play a specific amount to win whatever are very hard to work with. I do admit that if you are playing in the 50 to 150 level or the 500 to 1000 level that it is easier to balance plays. BUT I am not going to fall into the reasonable argument that I'm just not playing with enough money! I should be able to play within whatever level I am comforable with.

As far as being able to play with cents.. I do see your point. The cents aren't that important to me.. altho I do not think that a book should round down in making payouts. Nor do I think that I should be forced to play and be paid in even dollars. I think that is nuts.

The way I've been playing at Carib lately reminds me of one of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes cartoons. Calvin asks his dad....
Dad. How do they post weight limits on bridges? How do they know how much weight it can hold?

Well, son. They drive bigger and bigger trucks across the bridge until the bridge collapses. Then they weigh the truck and rebuild the bridge!

My point is that by playing bigger amounts than I want to play in order to try to balance plays.. when the account crashes then I'm back down to little, itty bitty bets trying to rebuild my account.

You bigger playes who regularly have a thousand dollars or more in action per daywill just say... either what a pointless idea or well you just aren't playing with enough money or that well.. you obviously can't aford to be doing this. So stop.

I continue to play at a small level for a number of reasons. My wife was married to a compulsive gambler who gambled away a retirement, savings and a new home. I have promised not to go overboard with this.. so I don't. I don't like the stress of having a whole chitload of money in action on any given day. I don't need the stress..or the distraction. I prefer to play at 3-5 percent of my balance per play and to not exceed 20 percent of the balance on any given day.

I am not rich. Don't pretend to be. But I can afford to do this the way I have been doing it and am sure that I could be playing at 10 to 20 times higher .. maybe much higher than that but I don't see the point. Annual income is about 250 thousand.

I could afford to play at a much higher level than I am playing but since I still consider myself to be relatively new at sports wagering and sports. Been into this about 2 1/2 years now. I have no previous knowledge of gambling.. none...not casino, horses, etc. NONE. And have NO previous knowledge of sports.. none at all..

I am into this because I still believe that over the long term with good money management that some people can make money at this. Although I have come to believe that over 80 percent of the people who do this LOSE. Whether I ultimately am a winner or lose remains to be seen.

My original premise was that someone like me with no sports background or sports wagering knowledge could make money at this with a relatively small initial investment by following expert plays offered on the internet or through e-mails The learning curve for me has been huge. My original idea was to 'invest" 400 dollars and to bring the balance up so that I was netting 1000 to 1500 a month.

Hasn't happened yet!

Thanks

AzRusty

Randy,

Take a long hard look at Pinnacle.... A great book with excellent lines on bases.... Bet whatever you want, down to the penny...and now they allow you to make deposits and withdrawals via PayPal. I also have an account at CanBet. Although I have about 8-10 offshore accounts, these are my two primary outs....

Good luck to ya.

gameday also lets you bet exact amounts.....all the way down to something like $2 or maybe even $1. Horrible lines for baseball. On a very rare occasion, I might get a better price on a big dog at gameday over pinnacle. Pinnacle is the baseball book you're looking for.

Hey Randy!

I like Pinnacle as well! The only draw back is their software doesn't allow "Risk" amounts on straight wagers, so you have to do some math if your flat betting.

But otherwise, I really like them!

I have no complaints about Canbet, except that they don't offer as many wagers (first quarter lines, props, etc.) as a book like Olympic and some other books do.

But they're very good for what they do. Can't complain about -107 lines.

I'd say try them out, but keep something in your Olympic account for occasional more "exotic" wagers.

Thanks for your help everyone

Thanks for your help everyone

I have been very busy with work and with helping with Kathy since she got home from the hospital. She has been home about six weeks no and is doing remarkably well convalescing from her bone marrow transplant. If it weren't for her hives and the lack of any significant hair on her head I would say that from all outward appearances her recovery seems to be complete. Latest blood work was normal... This AML (leukemia is some scary chit).

I took ya'lls advice and opened accounts at Canbet and Pinnacle. The both do what I wanted them to do with the exception as RedRaider said I have to do the math to compute my flat bet increment of the day.. I've gotten very fast and good at caclulator math.

Lines at Canbet and Pinnacle are much friendlier than Olympic and Carib.

Nuff Said

Thanks

Another vote for Canbet. Just haven't found any problems there. Good lines. Easy to play online. Pays exact amounts. No drawbacks that I can find.
