Very painful to see it end that way, but it is what it is. I know many will say he should have had the presence of mind to just knock the batted ball down instead of catching it, but come on that's kind of ridicules to expect. Congrats on the victory and gl in championship game.

I don't mind them not spiking. They had the play they wanted, throwing the fade to Mitchell in the back of the endzone and the ball is tipped at the line and just so happens to go directly to the out route. Not sure what you can do about that:shrug: Shitty luck:sadwave:

I was really hoping they would spike it. When they snapped it I kind of figured they didn't want to give Bama time and were going to the fade...and possibly get another play if needed buy maybe not.

That said....live it looked like just that and the ball got tipped. But when I saw the replay, it looked like he was indeed going to the guy who caught it. Just got tipped and took an extra second to get there. Maybe the guy gets out of bounds with time left, maybe not, but he's not going to score.

Am I wrong? Was he throwing the fade to the end zone?

Anyway, one hell of a game by both teams. Tough to lose on that catch but yeah, the guy caught it out of instinct alone. Great game!

Yes he was throwing the fade and it was batted. Hard to believe that's the way it ends, but shit happens.

Uga i feel for you bud my 12 yr old son is a huge fan and was cheering his little heart out all year and all game. Tough tears after the game!!

Imo Opinion Richt should of had him spike the ball huddle up and get 2 plays in endzone.

He def was throwing the fade when it was tipped .

Last Murray showed a lot of heart and played a great game especially after taking that dirty hit on the int!!

but

they had 2 receivers and 3 defenders within 2 yards of each other when the pass was thrown indicating somebody ran the wrong route SPIKE THE BALL AND GET ORGANIZED AND GIVE YOURSELF 3 MORE PLAYS.

if richt works 150 hours this week and studies the game film, i bet he STILL doesnt figure out what he should have done as it relates to clock mgmt

It didn't work out so obviously people will say he should have spiked it, that's fine. In the true since you are correct that he wasn't throwing a "fade" but what would amount to a go route and throw it up to your best receiver. Ball was tipped and redirected to player running out route.

bama didn't win because of the poor decision to run a play without clocking it. The tide won by dominating the uga defensive front on the ground.

Richt deserves criticism. His teams the past 2 seasons rode easy schedules into the sec title game, only to blow double digit leads both times.
