Pittsburgh will experience its first meaningful October baseball
since the last of three straight NL East titles in 1992.

"The fans in Pittsburgh have been waiting a long time for the baseball team to come back and play winning baseball," said Pirates second baseman Neil Walker. "I've been a part of this organization since 2004, I've seen a lot of players, seen a lot of up, seen a lot of downs, but we knew we had a special group here."

Ordinarily I would say popping champagne for a wild card spot is a bit much, but after 20 straight years of losing, go nuts.

Who cares how u get in? The best record doesn't even mean home field advantage . U gotta be in it to win it:0008

Have a drink on me:toast:

Very much agree. Again, 20 years of losing season is a long fucking time, not to mention that those 20 years came off the heels of that brutal loss to Atlanta.

If you had a kid after that season that kid has grown up, finished high school and maybe moved away to college having never seen the Pirates have a winning season. I don't mean in a World Series or even make the playoffs, I mean finish above .500. Those kids have only seen the Pirates lose, 105 times one season, 13 times in a row at one point and don't know that there is actually a history of winning teams and great players.

Screw the guys complaining about the celebration, two decades is a long fucking time.
