Jumped on these 2 games as soon as the lines came out.
I took Baylor +16 over North Texas
and UConn -14.5 over Army
Numbers are now Conn -15.5 and Baylor +14.
Really don't think those changes make much of a difference.
UConn is really good. They beat Indiana last week pretty handily34-10.Orlovsky is a 6'5 Qb projected to go in the 1st round of the NFL.He has a rifle of an arm and has "touch" on his passes.
Caulley is the best running back in the East.He is a 5'7 waterbug that is so elusive.Last week vs Indiana he ran for a 47 yd TD and broke 7 tackles on the play.He has speed and quickness and has those powerful legs. You need to hit him 3 or 4 times before he goes down.
In his last 5 games including Iowa St lyr he has 793 yds,10 Td's.
UConn OL is excellent. They open up holes and pass protect Orluvsky. All weigh 270,280,288,295 and 301.All 6'2 and a couple of 6'5's.
WR corp has been replaced. But solid.
Conn DL is big and athletic.LB's are quick, secondary lost almost everyone but has some solid replacements.
Army is hurting.Berry and his 3 WR attack has been a failure since the day he arrived on the banks of the Hudson. His record is 1-10,3-8,and 1-11.He has no Qb's that can throw the ball more then 15 yds.Nevels is back who quit the team in the spring. When you quit a team at the Point you don't come back. But Superintendent Gen Lennox made a personnel appeal to him and Nevels beat out the other 4 this fall.
OL is terrible.Only one starter back and he only started 5 games.Very inexperinced group.Esp in their 1st game.
All of Armys backs are gone but Jones. The No2,3,4, and 5 have quit, been dismissed, academics, etc
Jones is good but he's only 5'10.They moved a few players to RB's and have some freshman as backups.
WR 's arent to bad.Alexander is 6'6 and usually catches some long desperation passes by outjumping everyone.White is the 5'11 kick returner who is dangerous.
Defense is is a little above avg.But are slow.Best FS Weaver isn't starting.Big mystery.
Defense is on the field all game because of weak offense. They tire by the 4th quarter.Army D gave up over 200 yds rushing lyr.
Some scores vs the Defense were 44,45,46,49,56,58 and 59.Thats a lot of pts.Other then holding Tulane to 10 pts the nearest after that was 29.
Of couse the last time they played it was Navy and they kicked the hell out of them 58-12.
Conn should dominate with that balanced attack.Caulley will have a field day on the ground and the Big "O" with his massive OL will pick apart the Knights. The score will be anyone one of the above scores from lyr.
Nevels who can run out of the pocket will dazzle a little. But UConn D will hold them in check.Huskies win big and cover.
Lyr Holy Cross opened at Army.HC had a kid run 2 Td's back from kickoffs. With a few minuts left, Army still in the game,Berry kicked to that same kid again.Everyone at the Point said"don't kick it to that same guy".Berry did and guess what...he ran it back for a TD.
Berry did own up to it later as the worst "bonehead move he has ever made. But he's wrong. The worst move for him was coming to the Point.
Will do Baylor North Texas tomr.Baylor will cover and give NT a close game. GL
