Ducks and Cougars nearly brawled
These teams came close to trading punches Tuesday when a joint pep rally turned ugly, according to a report in the The Salt Lake Tribune.
Players from both teams made speeches during the pep rally in downtown Las Vegas, and at one point several members of the Cougars began doing the Haka, a traditional Maori war dance. It is a dance the team does prior to every game, according to the Cougars.
However, an Oregon player of Polynesian descent was offended by the dance and jumped over a barrier separating the teams to get at the dancing Cougars. He immediately shoved a BYU player and a minor scuffle broke out, although reports indicate no punches were thrown.
?Just a lot of shoving and mouthing off. Luckily, guys kept their cool,? BYU lineman Jake Kursea told reporters.
