In order to give David Wells discolored left hip an extra day of rest, he will start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Wells was hit by a Tony Batista smash Wednesday night. That leaves Sterling Hitchcock to start tomorrow night against Randy Johnson. It will be Hitchcock's second start this year and first since May 21.

Shortstop Julio Lugo missed a second game with a strained groin. Manager Jimy Williams wouldn't speculate on when he might play again, and Lugo said he was getting better, but needed to be careful.
"It's sore," he said, "but I don't think it's going to be long (until he's able to play again)."
Adam Everett was summoned from New Orleans to play shortstop Friday, but after he struck out twice and made an error, Williams started Jose Vizcaino at short Saturday.
Meanwhile, center fielder Brian Hunter, who suffered a jammed shoulder Wednesday, said he was available. But Williams seems reluctant to play him in the outfield until he's convinced he's able to throw.
"The muscles around the shoulder are sore," Hunter said, "but really, it feels pretty good. I can play."

Brewers's Right-hander Chad Fox experienced discomfort in his throwing shoulder after pitching one inning Friday night, Royster said. Fox will go back to Milwaukee today to be examined, Royster said.
Catcher Paul Bako left the game in the sixth inning after he dislocated a finger on his right hand while diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt. Bako said X-rays were negative and that he was scheduled to see a hand specialist today to determine how much time he would miss. The Brewers have just one other catcher on the roster.
Royster said third baseman Tyler Houston also experienced tightness in his back, leaving his status uncertain.
