In the last two days I have heard a republican congressman call the humiliation of the Iraqis the deeds of six service people. Today I heard Neocon Lapboy Newt Gingrich repeat that only seven or eight indivisuals are responsible. He said that on the Neocon,, I mean Fox Friends this morning. I hope they do not think that we are stupid enough to believe that only 6 people knew and are responsible for those acts.

I am curious as to what would make you watch Fox Friends in the morning. Do you also tune into Rush?

According to many of you, I am a neo-Nazi, and I would never spend my morning listening to that drivel.

stevied, the closer we get to the election the meaner and more vindictive you get.

Calm down, everything will be taken care of, your boy kerry the hero and champion of 3 month wars is not going to win, so just relax.

Lucky for most of America, the people and the politics of Massachusetts are confined to that state and Moscow.

Hey kerry the liar might have a shot there and his wife could open a pickle plant there, where they could live happily ever after in the land of elitists:D

CTG you are beyond answering. Dawgball, I try to listen to all sides. I understand where Rush and just about everyone else is coming from. We live in a country where the real journalists have been replaced by models and people with agendas. So by listening to all sides I try to get a feel for what is really happening. For instance in this abuse case. What strikes me is that they knew about it in January. They claim to be undergoing investigations. While a smoke screen is thrown up on both sides. One side claiming Saddam did worse while the other sides wants Rummy replaced. In truth it doesn't matter what Saddam did and it won't help to replace Rummy. I want to know why it has been 4 months and there are no answers yet.

Bush himself said he found out about it on TV last week like everybody else. That reservist from Maryland blew the whistle in November. Who the f*ck is running this country? Like i've always said, the answer is easy- Rummy, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle.

I can't put any blame on Bush at all for the attempted cover-up or how he handled the aftermath. he did as good of a job as possible. But these people in his admin are pure evil who obviously consider Bush on a 'need to know' status.

i am trying to post less in the political discussion threads because what we are doing here, & i'm including myself, is playing gotcha. that similar to what the low lifes in wash. are playing.

imo, you guys that hate bush so much (it was the same with the clinton haters) that you are jumping to conclusions too fast. you are foaming at the mouth.

my problem with this incident is that bush & the senate wasn't notified in a timely manner.

another thing, some of the posters here should pay more attention to what chanman posts. this guy really digs up some good info & pound for pound he is probably the most informative poster in this forum. you should read his 2 links that he posted in this thread. it pretty much answers everything you are concerned about.

it takes time to gather facts. some people have been dealt with already. there will be more people "hung" so this will please the dems. & the people from other countries.

lets all sit back, relax & let the system work. smoke them if you got them.

one more thing--

i don't remember the world being so outraged when daniel pearl got decapitated only because he was jewish or when 4 business people were dragged thru the streets & then hung in the town square in iraq.

if a private poll was conducted in the u.s., i believe that the majority of american people will vote that this prisoner problem is being blown out of proportion, remembering the above incidents.

really, as degrading as the photos may have been, read some pow stories about vietnam. there are some vets out there that would have happily had their shameful photo taken; rather than be tortured on a regular basis. i don't have the time to invest in this discussion totally. read up on the vietnam war. the treatment of the iraqis is mild at worst. the media is having a field day here. how do you not know the photos were not staged by some soldiers just looking to get sent home ? can't stop that, nor can you blame them. my 2 cents.

I could not agree more AR. I think out will also bow out of more these discussions unless they have some credibilty --and thanks for links Chanman as I missed the latter one. However I don't think they will do much good as the left will ignore them completely, the sad thing is you have to hunt for the facts and the other diatribe is headlined in the Times-Moveon-Alljezzera daily like its the gospel.

The only name calling in this thread was by Right Winger on Steroids CTG. Just because people do not agree with your guy means we are not worth talking about it. I think some interesting things came up in the investigation yesterday and would like your comments. For instance they knew about this for months and all they can do is to find is 6 people to pin the blame on, so far. Also Rummy takes responsibility for it. But what does that mean? He takes responsibility but.....
If it is no big deal they should just say it is no big deal and move on. Obviously they think it is a big deal.

Believe it or not StevieD- I did not even consider you when I was talking about the name calling. You have made your 'name' and it is a good one. I count your posts among those I look for... Chan. P.S.- I think we can all agree on "self defense" posts from time to time

believe it or not, i've learned quite a few things in these political threads. and am glad that we have them.

i have read some of the discussions from other forums like this one & what usually happens is that they evolve into name calling.

i think that this forum has for the most part held up admiralbly in these discussions.

we should be proud of ourselves that we have been civil to one another.

we all know discussing politics is a tough talk.

but i have noticed that we have started falling into the gotcha politics that has spread throughout wash. over the last few years.

i think that it is detrimental to learning what each side has to say.

While not in any way condoning what happened, I believe that blaming Bush for this is purely assinine. Who actually believes that a president should or would micro manage this war in such a way that he knows everything that goes on everywhere including the pseudo POW camps? In fact, who would actually want the president to get involved in this aspect of the conflict? Bush is always criticized, and often rightly so, that he lets his advisors run the show. Now, all of a sudden, something atrocious happens and he is to blame. You can't have it both ways.

There is much to criticize Bush for - this war, his affiliation with an almost radical religious right, his outlook on woman's rights, and on and on. And you can also claim that as commander in chief he is ultimately responsible for everything that happens - I won't even argue that one. But to blame him for this is not a reasonable act. It shouldn't happen, it is wrong, it goes against everything America stands for. But this is war, and bad things happen.

On the course!
Rummy says that the most horrific tapes and photos haven't been seen by the public yet. Murder, raping of women and young boys, beating POW's to near death.

We like to think that only "the other guy" plays these shitty games, but our own people are just as bad. Some people wonder how on Earth other countries hate Americans?

Do you remember when you were 18-25? You thought you knew everything, and no one could tell you any different. Look around at the 18-25 year olds on campus, in the clubs, at work, etc. The maturity level isn't that high, in general. Now, give that kid a "mission", and a weapon, drop them in with a few thousand more, and it doesn't take long for some of them to faction off into their own little niche, and become complete assholes.

Ultimately, the top brass is responsible, but to think they know everything happening in the field is ridiculous.

ferdville and yyz are exactly right.

The reason this is getting blown out of proportion or even making a big splaxh is because of the media being able to instantly report things and their ambitious drive to get a story that will provoke ratings on each ones network. Add in an election year and the hatred by the mainstream media for Bush and look what we have.

You don't think we did these type of things in WWI or WWII, hell if we had the medIa of today then, we would have never won that war as the nation would have been able to see everything we did almost instantly AND BELIEVE ME WE DID AS GOOD AS WE GOT. The japs were even worse that the germans, they killled and tortured thousands of pows.

THIS IS WAR, HOW DO YOU THINK WE GET INFO FROM CAPTURED POW'S OR TRAITORS, GIVE THEM MILK AND COOKIES. IN WAR YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT IS NECESSARY TO WIN.

If this country had not been turned into a politival correct state and if we had an objective, not a vindictive press, the public would not get this bullshit kinda of propaganda against the military or really against Bush.

WE WOULD NEVER GET CORRECT INTELL AND THAT'S WHAT IS NEEDED TO WIN, NOT WORRYING ABOUT HUMILIATING THE FU**ING ENEMY

YOU CANNOT FIGHT AND WIN A WAR USING POITICAL CORRECT PARAMETERS SET UP BY A BUNCH OF BLEEDING HEARTS
