What's your thoughts on the "stimulus" checks? The Dems have been pushing to get financial relief to the people and the Republicans have been pushing back. The part that confuses me about the Republican response is that a main tenet of their political platform is lower taxes. If the government is prepared to hand that money back to most of the taxpayers......why are they fighting it?

You're premise is comical.....let me know what you find in the bills where these "stimulus" checks come from....that's your answer.

I haven't seen a penny and don't expect to ever see a penny.....but glad we can just keep handing out money.

Is the premise comical because you don't get any money?

If we are being overtaxed, why is giving money back to most Americans a bad thing?

I saw an economist calculated something crazy that each qualified American could get stimulus checks for 8 months before it caught up to the cost of the Trump tax cut.

This is comical....if they wanted to get money to the people they could have done so multiple times since last summer.....but...they didn't want Trumps name on those checks and wanted all the crap they loaded into those bills which had NOTHING to do with Corona virus relief to be included NO MATTER WHAT.....

That is why your premise is a joke.

I dont know but I did read today that the republican decreased income limit might not hold up and they may be sending out checks to the same people as before. if this is true, I believe I'm quoting the famous Rod Tidwell when I say.....

"SHOW ME THE MONEY"

So, the party that is accused of wealth redistribution, overspending, socialism and pro-welfare......their the ones that were holding up the COVID relief? The Republicans were being stymied by the Democrats? You're serious?

We got Dems who want to lower the income eligibility for direct payments from $75,000 to $50,000 for individuals, and $150,000 to $100,000 for couples cutting out working class people who got checks from Trump.

Actually this came up first from the Republicans, dems have said they would consider it and sounds like it's probably headed this way. But I did read the other day they were actually talking about not cutting down the limit. who knows what it'll be until its finalized

Yes

Pelosi was never serious about getting a 2nd round done before the election.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/10/13/pelosi-economic-stimulus-democrats-cnn/

Mnuchin?s latest offer to Pelosi contained items on which the two sides agree, including a new round of $1,200 stimulus checks to individuals. But Pelosi contends there?s still not enough money for state and local aid, unemployment insurance or child care. She has been particularly critical of the administration?s failure to produce a national testing strategy to combat the pandemic.

The big difference in the two approaches is that the Republican plans always focus on giving the money to businesses whereas Pelosi and the Dems have wanted to money to go to the people.

Hedgehog never ceases to amaze. He's calling the virus, of which he and those in his workplace were infected, a "Scamdemic". He claims the country is closed.....it's not. Handouts would be completely acceptable if he or his wife got one, but since they don't, it's not okay.

I can't imagine what fucked up world he lives in.
