Alright...let's get this started right....

Expops +170

Armas had a great spring and they gave him the innings to make hime effective in this start, great value on a great arm. The expos always seem to play the Braves tough.

Cubs +100 Best Bet

this is a play against glavine as he was beat up all spring and it will be hard for him to just flip a switch and get things going. Wood has pitched well against the mets in the past and will get Baker his first win as a cubbie.

Giants -135

Agree with rayond that it's good to fond teams who struggle in certain situations and that's the padres here as they were horrible at home against lefties last year (6-15). Reuter has pitched very well against the padres (team is 9-1L10) and Lawerence has been in trouble against the G-men.

Pirates +120

i have been watching this team the closest all spring and the new lineup has some punch and will get the job done today!

Passed on the Dodgers, Royals, and Indians but they are worth a glance.

Which favorite bites the dust today?

Which favorite bites the dust today?

Well although i will never claim to be the best in this forum, I can assure you I will not be the worse and will always try to throw in some good tidbits to add to the long list of great cappers in here.

One of the unwritten rules I have in bases is to never take a huge fav, :nono: usually I limit the line to -160 but that is too high for the most part....

I notice cappers in here who take the big chalk usually wrap it up in a parlay of some sorts and if you were ever going to take one that is how i would do it. i just cannot stand the idea of if a team i have loses I would have to win two more games just to recoup the losses:eek:

Let's look at today's big plays for example:

The D-backs, Cards, and BoSox are all heavy chalk and probably should be for the most part as the Big Unit and Pedro are the best going and Morris has had the Brewer number when he takes the hill, but.......

what if the Brewers beat the cardinals? okay as I said Morris has been butter against the Brew Crew at 8-2 in his last ten with an ERA under two, and Sheets is just 2-4 in six starts against the cardinals, but the cards started slow last year at just 12-14 in April and have had to deal with many injuries in the spring and some of the starters got limites playing time in the spring or will get none as they are on the DL. Sexson is the kind of guy that can make a difference with one swing.

what if the D-rays win? The sox have dominated this series winning 16 out of 19, but both of these pitchers could have had better spring trainings. the sox have a history of not providing enpugh runs for Pedro and if they keep the support below 3 the rays could actually have a shot here. there are several starters for the Rays who get some good wood on Pedro and if they can stay in the game for 7 they have a shot, just can't lay 3-1 with any pitcher in the league.

what if the Dodgers win? nomo could be a difference maker here. He was 2-1 with an ERA under 2 and great on the road at 10-3. If Nomo can stay away from the wals he could get some runs because Jordan (.300) and Green (.297 w/ 2HR's) at the heart of the blue lineup both hit well against Randy and that says alot for any hitter.

now as you may have noticed I stayed away from these games altogther but before you go droppin 3X on a good pitcher make sure you are willing to eat the loss because as you will find out in baseball on any given day any team can win.

2-0, +2.70 a great start out of the gate and I am glad my best bet paid out as it did well in the spring (5-1-1) and always with the help of my spring training buds :D

thanks Guys! It is great to see the sping training guys do well as it was a very small group...

i just think the watching how players are reacting in the spring could be very helpful..not 100% positive but helpful...
For example all of my plays were based on spring traing...

Glavine had been getting beat up during spring training and I just don't think he can throw a switch and turn it on and he didn't...

Armas was one of the best pitchers in the spring and more importantly in his last several starts the Expos had been letting him go a ton of innings which would help today....

Pittsburgh's line up has been explosive at tie and the team is very confident with the offense they are bringing to the field....

Watching the spring also allowed me to watch teams who held back because of injuries and mnay of them, although i did not play them, Angels, Cards..etc..are off to slow starts....

I guess what I am saying is that i do agree spring training is important and the first posts I checked coming into the forum were from the Spring Training crew ;)
