Above the Clouds....
Found out last nite when I tried to order something online. Transaction was denied and the card had a block on it.

Got a hold of the credit card people today and they said they have been trying to get a hold of me for 3 weeks. ( old phone # ).

The charges were for about $350 at 3 different places. They saw it and blocked my card. These people were right on the ball and saved me alot of headaches.

Do they have people just watching for oddball charges and if so hats off to them!!

I had someone ordering shit on my card and sending it to Kuwait back in the Mid-90's. Luckily, I caught it in time and everything got resolved. I think it was one of the arabs at the gas station that stole my number, but I never did get any details.

How they did it , I don't know. A few years ago my Mom went through the drive-in bank in small town XXXXXXXX,KS...teller asked her to drive around and step inside. Account was hacked, airline tickets and Mall purchases....she finally got her money back, FBi involved. Not sure if they were ever caught.

On the course!
Remember:

Always keep your cards as close to the max as possible. That way, the bums can only charge a hundy or so to the card.

One of my buddie's number was stolen last week. He had withdrawn some cash at the ATM in a local casino.

Couple of days later, the bank placed a block on his ATM because of some "suspicious transactions". Apparently someone, some how, tried to withdraw $400 from his card.

I suspect it was really him, but he doesn't want to admit it.... LOL :mj07:

I listened to a story the other day about a new type of identity theft, in ATMs and other card reading devices. Somehow the hooligans put a small data chip reader strip in these things and it transmits the numbers back to them somehow. Don't remember the specifics, but that sounded pretty scary to me. I use my card all the time, both the cash card and credit card.

I had my identity stolen:

Last week I got a bill from Lowe's for $9800. Well, I don't have a Lowe's credit card. I immediately called the credit fraud department at Lowe's and reported the incident. They told me that I had to put a fraud alert on the 3 credit reporting agencies, which I did. Then yesterday I got a notice from Chase Bank that someone was applying for a credit card from them using my information. Because of the fraud alert I posted last week they caught it. Now the fun begins. Wonder what else is out there waiting to surprise me. Because of all this I purchased identity theft protection from Experian for $9.99 a month, seems like a small price to pay for this, hope so?
