Just got back from my 1st (left on 17th) and will prob be last.

the good--service excellent liked opening sliding glass door and listening/smelling ocean at night.
the bad--too long to be out of touch with reality.
-the ugly-- the never ending attempts to rip you.
Black Jack 2 options dealer cards both face up --he wins on ties or (never heard of this) 8 deck minus the queens???---video poker 6/1 full house odds. Internet 75 cents a minute--if you can get it to hook up--took me 18 minutes to check weather BG and ft lauderdale and print boarding pass (southwest)-

Flights were delayed hour plus going and coming-

bottom line wouldn't trade 5 day golfing trip to Tunica for any cruise.

Might add Gregg (judge) made generous offer to send driver to pick us up and take to his shop--but time on Costa Rica was right before Christmas and we couldn't hook up.

--and now have to catch up on work--with sore throat and fever I got last day.:nooo:

Sounds like Spanish 21 except they remove the Q's instead of the 10's.

Wayne, I'm sorry the cruise thing did not work for you, but I have to rise up and say the negatives you throw out are not the kind of things that people considering cruises should be concerned about.

Cruises are TERRIBLE for anyone wanting to gamble on the cruise games they offer. As with any gambling opportunity, know what you are dealing with before you gamble. They offer them to make money and to get people to think they will have fun gambling on a vacation. That being said, I have won multiple trips on roulette, when I played for about 45 minutes, aggressively, tipped well, and left. Cruise gambling is not designed to help the player - FAR FROM IT. Treat it as such. Have fun, and don't fight the bad luck.

Dogs "The Bad": EVERYONE needs to figure out how to take a week or so, and NOT worry about what's going on back home. EVERYONE needs to take a break from real life and spend QUALITY time with the person you have chosen to spend your life with. If that time is disturbing to you, that should tell you something. Stop OBSESSING about betting on everything for a little while... take a vacation, sit and look at something beautiful... take a LONG time to sit in one place and not worry about ANYTHING.

Cruises are terrific for seeing different places, meeting different people, really relaxing, learning a lot about yourself. They are terrible for gambling, having a wonderful quick experience.

I love cruises, but I am easy to please, a people person, and love to figure out shore excursions that let me experience new countries and people.

Sorry you had a bad time, Wayne.

Your probably right Chad--As we get older we get more set in our ways. I enjoyed time off ship in other countries but after48 hours --ship time became extremely boring--would not be so with say "newly weds" One of my pet peeves is standing in line and was nonstop for 8 days-

--and has been chaos since return--I generally never get sick but have a whopper I caught last day--and had alergic reaction to one of wifes Chinese anti biotics last night on top of that--plus no internet at home until Thursday--wife did some copy right infringement thing on down loading movie and came home to message on puter "your internet has been termed blah blah blah please call."
They evidently must have fried something in modem accidently--and to top it off I figure was about $4,500 for the abuse

Wow, not exactly a welcome home after a bad travel experience. Sorry things went so badly. I do know what you mean about staying plugged in and being bored, I confess no matter where we go I search to find out where I can get Internet access where I'm going, but the past few trips I've tried to mentally and physically unplug from the usual worries, and try to clear my head. With work and school we have not gone anywhere for going on two years now, and not sure what immediate future will bring.

There are different cruise opportunities, ships, styles, etc. I prefer the freestyle cruises that allow you to eat about anywhere onboard at any time, and now tend to shy away from the more prevalent offerings for families, as that makes things more cluttered and much louder. We never bring dress up clothes and do the upscale dinner thing - we try to get away from that. The shore excursions are the key - getting out and about when in port really allows you to get a local flavor and experience some amazing things. At least on some islands and in some countries, that is.
