Chicago
Was out last Tuesday at a northside establishment I go to every week or two with the gf. It's a big Cubs bar East of Ashland off Diversey North. Wertz, of the Cubs bullpen, goes there regularly with his brother. The bartender (Detroit native, very sports knowledgeable, as of two years ago now lame Cubs fan because of were his check comes from) is one of those popular chubby types that could have been on Cheers. He tells me aside Wertz says the team can't stand Lou. I took it as talk, whatever. Now today, David Kaplan of WGN sports and monster Cubs fan, says he's heard a great deal of dissent from a number of players he personally talks to. David actually called in to the weekend show to get into this, after a big Cubs win. He explained that there are far more fewer problems with the team than the recent losing streak and Lou's suspension etc. It would seem some more loses and this could get ugly in these parts. I actually like many of the players they have on the team. I guess the biggest problem is Lou is actually blaming the players for what's happening on the field and they want him to be more in it with them. It would seem the monster $$ and the lemmings filling up the park everyday isn't enough for these guys. They like a loser like Dusty to let them do as they please and then take the hits at the podium. Kaplan may think this story is about to erupt so he hit the airwaves with it to look like a champ. If they didn't want him to chirp, he would never do this.

Today they faced a cripple on the mound and destroyed him. Don't think this win means much in the grand scheme of things outside of the fact that they will use the same ball boy on the road. Also don't think this team has any heart or real character. They now have an excuse to lose and they are gonna run with it until there is some implosion. If Smoltz was on the mound today their losing streak would have been extended and they would have limped to Mil.

I have read were some guys here think this team has some heart and wanted to get out of the losing streak and win some games. They won today by chance. Don't want guys to put real money on this outfit for the wrong reasons. They don't care so don't expect them to. During the next losing streak, think about betting with the streak instead of against it.

I'm not the biggest Cubs fan (although I think D Lee is the best in baseball) but this is lame.

The best is that Lou is getting praise for todays win from the media due to his show yesterday. Bet you this frosts these babies more. :mj07:

I could be wrong, but I bet one Ryan Dempster is in the lead of this bs.

Above the Clouds....
I see what you're saying but don't you think there is a competiteve edge when these guys hit the field? I know Lou demands a lot and I can see where it could be a distraction. I guess we have to wait and see. Coming off a six game losing streak may spark them and then again they could go on another losing streak.
