If I may offer a simple suggestion here.

DON'T WAGER ON THE NFL!!!!!!!!

play the college and just make some token NFL plays. Almost everyone has one or two sports they are best at. It sucks to just have one. Mine is college football but I cant stay away from the NFL. If you have time someday I will teach you the TITFD principle.

Good luck

The vast majority of folks posting or lurking here are losing their butts. Not that they'll admit it, but that's the truth. Something like 98% of all sportsbettors lose money, all these offshore sportsbooks don't stay in business because a large percentage of bettors are making money.

The NFL is a very tough place to make any money, that's why the books will take a LOT of action on an NFL game. TheGibber1 has had one hell of a season here this year and I wish I had been on him all year but you never know from one season to the next who will have the good year. A couple of years back Nolan Dalla hit something like 62% of all plays I think - it was phenomenal. The main thing is don't panic and don't chase your losers. The NBA is a good place to make money but it's a hell of a grind - especially on the totals - check it out, most sportsbooks have their lowest limits on NBA totals which should tell you something.

Just a little advice my friend...............and believe me it comes from experience....

It is very tricky playing quarter bets unless you know whats going on. I know -1/2 seems easy seeing as how the game is 6-7 for the game. Put they acutally, baring safety, have to win at least by a fg(3). In one quarter, in bad waeather where Colts could get ball first AND may get up to 3 chances to score AND Broncos may only get two chances AND one of those chances could overlap into 2 qtr. ... Its not as easy as you would think.

And if you do bet quarters, and Im sure Nolan would concur: look
for spots to TAKE rather than GIVE half point. And if it does look good then the price is very important...........

.........."Rookies" dont understand how expensive laying -130 and up can be. TRUST ME that its hard to overcome those odds in the long run. Im very uncomfortable about any bet with -130 or more and I reduce my win amount ( 110 for 100 but somethin like 104 for 80) to compensate.

These plays can be profitable but I would advise to learn the game: do some reading about picking football as a whole. If all this info was out when I started I would be alot better off today than I am.

www.professionalgambler.com

is one site with alot of good info.

Best of luck my man.

By the way progambler is good reading but I wouldnt take his free picks.

Strickly football

Strickly football

I only wager football. This is my first year to do it online(B.O.S.) with an offshore sportsbook. I should stick with NCAA from here on out, but the NFL is just too tempting to stay away from! I've had bad Sundays 5 WEEKS IN A ROW!!

Scott-ATL,
TITFD??? Please explain. :)

Agree with hellah10, learned my lesson and will stayed away from from NBA. From week 1-11 I was up about 103 units from CFB and just this week I loose my A$$ on NBA (61 units). CFB this weekend helped brought it back down to 38 units. I will accepted the lost and wait for next week and tries to recoup from CFB. I do make some from NFL by coattail some of the cappers from here. Need to learn money management and played fewer game. If anyone can offer tips and advices. Thanks all.

I agree with you on not betting the NBA. There is no way you can figure out what is going to happen in a NBA basketball game.

Anyone that does well in the NBA must have a secret they aint telling the rest of us. Its hard as hell. The worst team in the league will show up and beat the Lakers with a total over 203 when you were big on the under.

Then they miss free throws and I want to go on the court and strangle them.

College BB is ok with me but I tend to go with favorites. and that aint good.

if i have learned anything this football season it would be the value of the underdog. You can't always play the underdogs. But underdogs have value. I like moneylines myself. I like to pick the winner without worrying about the friggin points at times.

And no Wizzard you cant take any credit.

I been following a formula. A new idea. A sure winner.

NBA is the worst!!! I got screwed by the JOKING SPURS :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger twice last week. Up by 20 or more pts w/2 or 3 mins left and left the backdoor wide open for a covered by the opponent. While Duncan and Robinson sat on the bench smiling and laughing.

If you're new to betting, I'd avoid the 1st quarter and halftime bets. Any bet on a quarter is just too random; Rutgers led Miami for almost 3 quarters. There may be some instances in which a halftime bet is justified but I think most bettors are just chasing with halftime bets. You'd be better off handicapping another game and getting a fresh start.

Straight up win/loss records mean virtually nothing in the NFL. The only time you should look at them is when there are playoff implications involved. Look for "bad" teams who are showing signs of turning the corner and improving, and look for "good" teams who may be starting to go off form.
