The Houston Rockets try to avoid their first ever season sweep by intrastate rival Dallas Mavericks as the teams clash tonight at the Compaq Center.
Houston are 28-25 SU and 27-24-2 ATS this season. They responded to consecutive losses with an impressive 107-89 win Wednesday at Phoenix as 6 point underdogs. Although their last game at the Compaq Center was a bad loss to the Heat, prior to that their recent home form had been very solid....big wins over the Kings and Timberwolves and a two point loss to the Jazz.
The Mavericks have the league's most potent offense but although they have posted an excellent 42-12 SU record this season they have not been profitable for their backers at 26-28 ATS. Dallas played last night at home and recorded a solid 95-87 victory over the surging Spurs. But they are just 3-8 ATS on 0 days rest and will face a raucous Rockets crowd tonight. They have won 5 of their last 10 road games and covered just 3 of those so to be laying 5.5 points tonight may prove difficult.
The Rockets are 15-11 ATS at home this season while the Mavs are just 11-15 ATS on the road.
While the Mavs have dominated recent meetings between these teams we expect the Rockets to get some measure of revenge tonight.....in an exciting game that goes down to the final buzzer we will take Houston at home to keep it close enough to get the cover.
