BoSox -129....Red Sox have to avoid the sweep heading into this series at NY. Damon came out last night and called this one a must win, and I do think the team will respond. As far as the numbers of this game, Miller's era is 3.18 in three starts while Chacin's is 7.14 in his last three. He was very hot to start the year but has come back to earth in a big way. Not thrilled with laying road chalk with a team struggling like the Sox, but this line holds some value if you look at it from the perspective of avoiding the sweep. Three days ago the price on Boston just winning one of these games would have been much heavier. Might be flawed logic, but I've convinced myself it makes sense.

I agree you'll get a top effort out of Boston but they've struggled in this series against lefties with Downs and Lily shutting them down. Boston is 8-5 against lefties but those numbers are a little misleading as their only hitting .244 against them so far. Miller has been very solid though so I think he may get you over the hump tonight.

I know the must win in May idea is nuts -- but if they lose today and then they run a high risk of the Yankees passing them in the standings by Sunday --- squandering the head start that the Yanks spotted them before Memorial Day.

Looking at it from the other perspective. The Jays are playing well and they have the chance to overtake Boston with a win tonight. Chacin had an awesome start to the season and hasn't won in his last 3 outings.

Jays are ahead 5-2 this year against the RedSox.

It's not like the Jays' aren't playing for anything.
