Cloutier missed last 2 games for family emergency

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Goaltender Dan Cloutier rejoined the Vancouver Canucks after missing the last two games to attend to a family medical emergency in Montreal.

Cloutier, who left the team after a Monday afternoon practice in Buffalo, was back at practice Friday and is expected to start Saturday's game against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.

Cloutier didn't want to get into the specifics of the medical situation, but said he was happy to be back with his teammates and looking forward to using hockey as a distraction.

"Obviously I've got no control over what s going on right now and once I get out there I've got to focus on playing hockey and I think it s going to help me to go out there and just forget about the other things for a while, Cloutier said.

Cloutier, who is 16-17-3 with a .904 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average, missed games in Buffalo and Detroit. Vancouver went 0-1-0-1 in those games with backup Peter Skudra starting between the pipes.
