Past-Postings (not the casino kind): 1-1 -0.5 unitations

Past (& future): Guess my comments regarding Brathwaite's competance came into play to bag not just myself, but several other users of this forum. I didn't see the game, but notice the Bruins outshot the Blues and won the faceoff battles. Not enough here, as Shields demonstrated why he is not a #1 goalie in the NHL. Grahame will undoubtedly be backstopping the Bruins in their next 2 (Th home to Thrashers & Sat. home to Lightning), and should play with the confidence that he's the Bruins man right now, but we'll no doubt get an extremely expensive line for both; give me +200 or better and I'll probably try a shot at Dafoe vs his former mates tomorrow.

Rangers overcame their mid-game brain-lapses to hold onto the W there. Next match for blueshirts is tomorrow, vs the broad-street bullies. Last I heard the Flyers were talking to the Isles about the possibility of acquiring Osgoode. Sounds like accupuncture to me, as Cechmanek is NOT the Flyers problem right now; defensively the Flyers have not been bullies, and their goal-scoring problems may continue until their top lines get healthier. At +140 or better I may hoppy on the Rangers in this contest tomorrow.

Present:

7:05 pm Ducks@BRUINS

couple o chit teams going at it here. Ducks strong game yesterday despite losing 2-1 in Detroit. Sabres can't score and don't seem to sure what they want to do between the pipes. Tough one to call but I see a good possibility of a low-scoring game here.

No plays.
Leanage: Ducks +125, under 5 -125

7:35 pm Canucks@DEVILS

Cloutier faced a tough 36 shots yesterday in the 2-1 loss @ the Isles. kinda surprised Skudra didn't get the start in that one; haven't heard who's getting the call tonight, yet, but I can't imagine the C's not going with their top man...making it back-to-back starts. If that's the case, I can see Cloutier getting tired and (at least a little) frustrated. Regardless, these are two hot teams right now, playing sound defensively, and I am tempted to say that this is as close to a playoff-type atmosphere in December as we can get...tough game for the Canucks last night is the main drawback to this temptation. Devils have been in many low-scoring tilts lately, save for Sat's outing @ St.Lou (5-4 W in O.T). Two teams that CAN put the puck in the net, but I'm looking for a low-scoring affair here.

On: under 5 +110
Leanage: Devils -145

7:35 pm Hurricanes@Panthers

Panthers team is a joke this year. potential saviour Luongo has been a sieve. 'Canes playing solid right now, but I concur with Investment Executive regarding the tough spot that they're in due to a rough part in their schedule, seeing them play their 4th game in 6 nights. I'm a spectator.

No plays.
Leanage: Hurricanes -115, over 5 -120

8:35 pm Senators@BLACKHAWKS

I've been hoppy on the Sens, for the most part, the past few weeks. Solid all-round play has them now unbeaten in their past ten. I'm not a Sens fan, per se, but I've still got mixed feelings about sending Spezza down; he's been putting up the points, and I just don't see how he can learn to play defensively in the NHL while in the minors. Makes me wonder if this move has something to do with his eligibility to play for the World Junior team. Regardless, the club should not suffer much offensively. Defensively I see both Phillips and Chara really coming into their own, and Lalime has been solid in net. 'Hawks lone bright spot this year has been goaltender Thibault, with 3 blankings and a rock-solid .921 save %. Only Calgary, Nashville, and Buffalo have scored less goals this season, however, leaving Chicago an early-season longshot to even make the playoffs. That being said, they are 7-3-1-0 at home, with the Sens 4-3-3-0 on the road. 'Hawks surprise me when they win these days, and I've done well anti-backing them recently, but I give them somewhere in the mid-40's (%-wise) to take this one. I need 59% or better to see any value in the Sens at -140. Temptation, but passation. Tell me Thibault is NOT starting and I would try the Sens -1/2 +100. P.S. notice all the (crappy) ex-Leafs on this team?:D

Nada.
Leanage: Sens -140

8:35 pm Habs@STARS

Theodore should get the start here. Tough spot, but this dude has got to be motivated for a strong performance. With Dallas 9-0-1-1 at home, this would seem to be a nightmare game for the Habs, though they are a respectable 4-4-1-0 on the road. Stars have 5 players with 9 or more goals, but I'm not convinced that this offense isa potent as it has been thus far--beyond Modano, Guerin, and Turgeon there is a serious drop-off in offensive prowess. While Minnesota, Jersey, Ottawa, Philly, and Boston have allowed less goals against than the Stars, I think that will be the strength that Dallas will have to ride throughout the season. Habs lit it up in a few early games, but their offense has been offensive the past few weeks. I can't see Montreal taking this contest, but I also can't see myself grabbing the action on Dallas at -240. Turco OR Tugnutt is fine with me between the pipes in Dallas, and I'm banking on Theodore keeping this one from getting ugly.

Onage: under 5 +125
Leanage: STARS -1/2 -160

Happy Hunting
