Cleaned out my closet yesterday (first time in last 2 years) (ten if you ask my wife). Found stack of LP's from my bachelor days....
(LP's for younger crowd is long playing record...vinyl, about 12" in diameter, traveled at unheard of speed of 33 revolutions per minute, I believe, and if unscratched, made beautiful Hi Fi music..)
Anyhow, I gathered up my precious albums....among them Black Sabbath, Masters of reality....Doors, L A Woman.....Beatles, Abbey Road....and yes Frank Sinatra, Greatest Hits Circa 1971...
proceeded to E-bay to perhaps sell off these treasures.
Sadly after looking at completed auctions, came to the sad revelation....LP's have gone the way of Dinosaurs.....NO VALUE
(well at least with squished dinosaurs and stuff we have oil)
I have all my favorites on CD now, so what to do with these
worthless relics of a time gone by?
I had them all scattered on the floor of my living room and stared
at them thinking....Target Practice?? Salvation Army? Christmas Gifts for worthless relatives?
After an hour of thinking of the fun times associated with this
vast assortment...it struck me....THE ARTWORK.....THE COVERS...
looking at my albums in a new light it struck me, these are
time capsules....
Taking it one step further...I have a computer/library/music/aquarium room....wife seems to have
conceded to me decorating wise....I thought why not take all those neat album covers, which are almost identical in size, remove records, and taking duct tape to the backs of them,
cover entire wall !!!!
TALK ABOUT COOL.....now I look at Beatles, Stones, Frank Sinatra,
Doors, Black Sabbath, Moody Blues, OK I have an Elvis, and my
trippy....Mike Quattro jam band--Paintings....among many others..
instead of pukey Salmon colored wall board..
Could have knocked me over with a feather...the wife loved idea
and helped me do the room....she must have figured we aced
out some TV home designing show with the thought..
IN CONCLUSION...great idea for ugly, or holed walls....fear not if you do not have LP covers...available at thrift stores for fifty cents.
Cheaper than wallpaper, and the vinyl disk is a good target!!!
