We run the demo derby tommorow. A buddy was going to run but his motor froze while we were working on it.

Sons car. We call it a death trap because its so rusted out. At least he will have fun just smashing it up.

My car. I dedicated it to BUBBA this year. I still think of him every day. My buddys wife drew the picture free hand for me. There are more but Im to buzzed to post them now. She did an outstanding job. Stay tunerd for the "after" pics. The name of the game this year is to just completely trash the car and not bring it back home.

Here is what happened. The night I posted these pics I went back outside and we finished up working on the car and the wives decided they wanted to go up to the bar for some pizza and more beers :mj14: . It just so happened that it was kareokee night and my buddies wife dosent want to leave when it starts so we have a good time and the next thing you know they are calling last call.

Get home and crawl into bed and 3 hours later its time to get up and drive the cars to the fairgrounds. You can almost see how this day is going to turn out. My sons car wouldnt even turn over so with the wife in front and my son following we head off. I didnt even get a mile down the road and the hood flies up on the car. It seems I didnt chain it down. Get it tied down and keep heading off to the fairgrounds. Go back for my sons car. It turned out to be a blown fuse so no big deal.

I am in heat 3 and the son drew heat 8. I get out on the track and the first hit the back of the seat broke and I am laying down looking at the roof of the car. I make 2 more hits and end up the same way both times. Then the car dies. I cant get it restarted and am counted out. All that went wrong was the battery cable came undone and I didnt even notice. :cursin: Lesson learned for me...never go out the night before a derby.

Sons heat goes off about 8pm and its been a long day. There were 22 cars in his heat and he finished about 10th. He did everything exactly right. He was hitting as hard as he possibly could and when the car was about to overheat he started hitting with the nose. He didnt lift his foot from the pedal once.

Son had a great time and he couldnt stop talking about it for 3 days. He cant wait to do it again next year.

Im gonna try it again on the 21st. I just picked up a 89 Honda Accord already stripped and ready to go. This time I stay home on the 20th and drink the beers after the derby.
