I am paying $100 a month for dental and at least for the next few years will only need cleanings for myself and family, this seems expensive but I have never really investigated since I get it through my employer. My question is what type of premiums do you guys have and does anyone have a recommendation of a company they are happy with.

Thanks in Advance

Definitely shop around, I pay 50% of my employee's medical/dental coverage and it is like $10-$15 a month for the Dental portion.

Mine is covered by my employer. Prior to last year, when I was self-employed, I paid less than $20 monthly....

My coverage is $600/yr...kind of expensive for two cleanings. I opted out. I'm sure the year will come around where I need a crown but I think I will be ahead in the long run.

Holy shit I never knew how hard it was to see the premiums verses benifits that people offered. I understand there will be fine print, but shit just sum it up for me and if I like I will make it to the fine print:(

:mj07: Not talking about people trying to help here lol, started searching the net and its like companies are trying to hide information rather than show it.

Isn't that pretty much standard? Show you just enough to make you have to call, and then tell you, "No, no.........You need to have far more than that!"

OH MOMMY!!!!

Our dentist had us consult with one for our daughter when she was about 8-9. Told us she would need to be put on braces, too. I told my ex, "This is nuts." The kid is in the process of growing, and I can't think of too many kids when we were younger who had "perfect" smiles, but a fair chunk of them ended up ok without braces.

Well, she never got braces, and has a beautiful smile today.

Now, I don't know what your issue is, so it might be something that is the real deal, but I think a bunch of this horse shit is just upselling.

Hey it's your genes!! That will be my kid too, I'm congenitally missing a few. Fortunately for your daughter implants are an option.

Anyone reading this tell your kids to do well in school and get into ortho. They obviously do very well but more importantly for quality of life it's not physically taxing like general dentistry and you can work a very long time.

I pay 20 per month for $1500 per year of coverage. 2 free cleanings per year plus x-rays. My mother was a dentist (retired in '94) and she told me once that Dentists are the most overpaid providers in the medical field. No oversight. Remember when a root canal used to be the last step before pulling a tooth? Now it's an upsell and 2 years later they'll tell you that it needs to be re-done because the first one "didn't take".
