My wife and I have always talked about moving to Colorado. I have only lived in Texas, except for the three years I was stationed in North Carolina.

We have visited once, and absolutely love the idea of seasons and a new adventure. Obviously, there is a lot involved, but I would like to get your honest opinions of Denver and surrounding areas, good, bad or indifferent. My wife is a graphic designer and works from home. I currently work in the mortgage business.

How is the economy? Neighborhoods? Schools? (I have a 10 year old). I appreciate any input you may have.

Livin--Lived here 26 years-moved from Iowa. Woudl not want to live anywhere else. Econmy is great, the weather is great:0008. I play golf 12 months a year. Snows, melts the next day usually, no bugs, low humidity, you just want to be outside doing somethng. If it i:0corns 45 and sunny in Colorado its like 75 anywhere else. Close to the Mts, pro sports, college sports. Great downtown area and the micro brew capital of the word. I think the north suburbs are the place to be be now. Talk to Poon he just moved here from Chicago. Schools are liek anywhere else--some districts are better than others .If I can help in any other way let me know. GL

I lived in Denver for 10 years from Downtown right out of law school to south burbs with a family. It took an absolute HUGE opportunity for us to leave and we still have our doubts. Denver really is a big city with a small town feel. Everything a big city needs, but my burb felt smaller then the city I now live in South Dakota. The weather is to die for and the activities are second to none.

Look me up if you want to hear about schools, I planned out the schooling options throughly from public to private. Education options are plentiful.

Good luck to you.

Livin, feel free to get my email from Jack or IE. As Hawkeye said I just moved out here with the family (have a 3 year old and a 6 month old). We previously lived in Chicago. We bought a house out here in a burb called Westminster that is in between Denver and Boulder. I work up in Boulder and my wife works from home.

Neighborhoods can vary obviously dependent on where you are in the city, but no matter what area (North, South, etc.) you can find someplace decent. Economy is pretty decent and schools are as Hawkeye described.

Again, feel free to email me and ask me any questions.

You're probably looking for more specific info- which I'm sure Hippo will take the time to give you.

All I can say is Denver and the surrounding area, especially Boulder- GREATEST PLACE EVER!

Hey Livin, I hope you don't mind me asking a question in your thread but I'd like to check with the Denver crew on places to go down town. Myself and three buddys are coming in for the Bronco/Chefs game. Probably getting in Saturday and wondering what good sports bars and/or clubs to hit? We'll be staying downtown to avoid any driving after partying.

Also any info on getting to the stadium from downtown. I'd appreciate any input.

Best of luck to you Livin, if you pull the trigger on the Denver move!

I'll be there myself. Anything in LODO on Saturday will be fun. Go to El Chapultepec for some Jazz you will not be disappointed. Crowed, small, awesome!! On Sunday for the games head towards the Pepsi Center, either Brooklyns or bar that constantly changes name, either one will have good drink specials and you can walk from there easily to the game. Also game day I love to hang out at the Tent in the parking lot of the Stadium, its like a big tailgate for people who dont have a tailgate to go too. Pricey though, drinks cost as much as stadium. A hole in the wall but GREAT bar is MY BROTHERS BAR on 15th and Platte. Great food and beer. You can then ride the sweet ass trolley to the Stadium for $4. A locals spot, but lots of fun.

We are heading up to Boulder on Saturday for the CU/CAL game cause one of my buddies wants to see Boulder, so hell might as well watch terrible college football. Avs game Sturday night too.

Thanks hedman, apprecaite the info, going to print it off and try and hit a few of those spots. Is the trolley to the game available from the downtown spots? Just saw you're from South Dakota, moved to Rap from Michigan in 06, what part are you from? Was going to mention to Livin that moving out West was a great move for us. thanks again for the info. Should be a great game!

I'm in Sioux Falls. No, the trolley is only from the REI downtown and runs along the Platte River by 6 Flags to the Stadium.

You want a season change? You should move your Packer loving ass to Green Bay! I'd wait til December or January so you can fully enjoy the weather as most Texans would, another perk to Green Bay is that everything is green, bars, liquor and convenience stores, hell the McDonald's is even green too, it's the type of green experience a Packer fan like you would enjoy seeing daily. :mj07:

Thank you all for the feedback...we are probably 1-2 years away from a move, but definitely will visit a few more times and check out the areas for ourselves. When I know a specific time, I would definitely like to meet up with those who can. With my current job, I actually work at the corporate headquarters so I can't just move with the company. That will be the biggest challenge, but well worth it.

Thank you all again, except for Bleedin :SIB
