Rarely do I bet against the Eagles, but I will today. Their playing their second straight game against a team coming off the bye and I think the Lions will be hungry here. They need this game much more than the Eagles do to stay competetive in their division or risk being the laughing stock of the NFL once again. I think the Lions have played below their heads through the first 4 games and have given up 2 kick returns and 2 punt returns for TD's...? (correct me if I'm wrong) I'm hoping they've addressed this issue during the bye week because it is something that can be easily corrected. This game will have a playoff atmosphere for the Lions and the Eagles will be looking for a win before their bye (which they've been bad historically under Reid) but I think the Lions want this one more.
Last year's game was played until the final whistle with Detroit making a comeback right at the end, losing 35-32. They covered the 6.5 in that one, which is what the line opened up for this game and quickly dropped to 3.5 in most places. The public has been on Detroit all week, but the percentages have evened out this morning. That's a good thing because betting public dogs in the NFL is like burning money.
