C'mon, you're not confident enough that you can hold on 3rd and 19?An incomplete pass or short gain would have saved the three.

yep if your defence is so respected your dc is being sought after by teams to be a head coach you have to show some faith and back them up out of fg range and take your chanes there.

They were getting tremendous pass rush at that point in the game, had just as much chance for another sack, another hold or an incompletion.denying Phila that FG would have put them,Minny, ahead 14-13 thru most of the second half, maybe changed some of Nimrod Childresses play calling or even the outcome of the game.

Lots of "IFS" there. Just saying.

I believe you take the penalty since they would be out of FG range. However, it's a tough call as a 1st down conversion would make you look really shtoopid. My feeling at the time was they should have enforced the penalty.

Wasnt on the site during the game but the consensus in the room was a total ...........

WTF

Decline and let Akers hit a 44 yard FG? Really?

Im sorry that Joe "Jack of all trades master of none" Buck didnt say how questionable a call declining the penalty was, but puh-leeeze. Simply because the moron announcers dont bring up your pathetic coaching doesnt make it right.

HORRRIBLE MISMANAGED CALL>

CHILDRESS just replaced dumbass Herm Edwards as worst coach in the league.

AND THAT WAS BEFORE THE 2nd DOWN PASS WITH 30 SECONDS LEFT IN THE 2Q. While that idiotic decision didnt lead to Eagles points, it clearly could have.... and for no good reason, you could have kneeled. Or put a sign around your neck that said "FIRE ME RIGHT FUCKING NOW"

IDIOT!!!!!!

On the course!
I don't think it needs to even be about letting them get a shot at a 1st down. Taking the penalty allows them to complete a play that will get them closer on the FG try, too!

Might not seem like a big deal, but 44 yards is no "gimmie".

The reason why

The reason why

If they would have taken the penalty they would have lost precious time on the clock. The penalty worked as a time out. Otherwise they would have run on second down again and the clock would have went down to the two minute warning. They would have run on third and the clock would have went down to about 1:15 before forth down. So it was all about saving time on the clock. They actually saved about 50 seconds of clock time. Most NFL coaches would have done the same thing.

The penalty we're talking about was in the 1st half and it was on a 3rd down play.

Scout, Inc writes the posts. That's why it says "Scout, Inc's take"

Please point out where I called you a public player, because I never have.

UMM...common sense says anytime you have a chance to take points away from the other team you do it....taking the penalty wouldve taken field goal away....send em back 10-yrds and you hope your defense holds or at worst you allow long field goal attemp if they gain some back...but giving them a 44 yarder is [just guessing here] probably 90% of time good.
