I don't think anyone knows for certain.......Should be good through football season though. They are still rolling the P-4's....As far I understand that is.........

HU==football card? Is this DirectTV? I am going down to Radio Shack to get either DishNetwork or DirectTV--is there anyway I can just getthe system and "get" an HU card somewhere else?

There's always a way to get the HU and the system, but the problem you would have is to get it programmed. You can pick up systems with HU cards on e-Bay, but you still have to get programming........

Dont spend very much on the hu card because once everything is switched over the only thing they will be good for is scraping ice from your windshield.

From what Ive read/heard there is a problem right now with some of the new cards that DTV is sending out. Some of them wont work in the recievers. Once they get that problem fixed you can expect the hu cards to go down real quick.

If you do decide to pay for a program/system here are a couple pieces of advice.

Do Not get a 4b hu card. Hardest ones to work with.

Do Not purchase anything from inside the U.S. Canada is the preferred place. If a place in the U.S. gets busted all of there records are siezed and you will get a letter from DTV telling you to pay up to $3500 or they will take you to court. My brother got one 8 months ago. He is a computer geek by trade so he had a legit reason for his purchase. Cost him $200 for a lawyer to send DTV a letter explaining that to them. He never heard back from them.

If you are going to pay for a program, buy your own card reader and have the program sent to you. (See paragraph above)

Only buy programs on a monthly basis. Some places sell you a subscription for 6 months. This wont do you any good if all of the hu cards were to tank next month. Waste of money.

If you want more info check out google.

about what I figured, nobody is totally sure......could be tomorrow, could be a year? I'm just tired of the scroll across the bottom of the screen telling me to insert my new p4 card....makes it nearly impossible to see any sports tickers. I see the "hu" is still bringing between 80-100 dollars on ebay.....but like bubbas said, I wouldn't get involved in a "hu" anymore, because once the p4 is out to the customers and all of the glitches are resolved, the "hu" will be obsolete.....a good investment may be to pick up a p4 card somewhere soon even though they haven't been hacked yet....because once they do hack them, you can bet the price will skyrocket. Thanks for everyones input....hopefully the "hu" will hold in there through football season....love watching those games from the west coast and out of my region that you can't get on local cable.
