OK, so day 1 was a struggle. I expected it since its her first day from the litter so its not too big of a deal for me. For my neighbor, that's a different story. Dog has been whining, howling, and crying while in the crate. Everything says to keep her in there no matter what and give positive feedback when she's been quiet for 5 minutes. I think it happened twice, probably because she was tired of crying. Pillow, blanket, bone, and toys are in there. She doesn't seem to care. Took her outside for 20 minutes where she actually peed. Again positive feedback. Got her home, immediately pooped. Kinda frustrating but again expected. Its so hard to not yell at the dog for continuous crying, especially with my neighbor not being understanding, but I have to get her to stop somehow and I'm stumped. Going to bed. Should be up in 3 or 4 more hours for another walk and hopefully relieving too.

She will stop whining, trust me, I left mine in there and went shopping for one hour. Never did it again. Stick with the crate training and use positive reinforcement. Secondly, every time your dog drinks or eats, take it out and tell it to go pee or poop, afterwards tell it how good they did or possibly give small treat. You could also hang a small bell from the door ringing it when you go out sooner or later the dog will nudge the bell when it needs to go out. All positive encouragement. I have 2 shepherds and must say it was easier to train the second dog 2 years removed as it did everything the older did, kind of funny to watch. Good luck. First few days are tough.

Teach him to do this if you can. He'll thank you for it.

seriously enroll in a basic 3 month obedience class. My husky is 12 I have been there done that with him. I have spent more time with him than wife and it has paid off. This dog I guarantee is better behaved than most people. As hard as it may be stay calm when she is whining if you yell you are adding to her behavior. Tire her out than put in crate when she is calm it may be for 2 minutes give affection. Remember these dogs love to run and wander. Try not to chase her she will think its a game. People wonder why dog runs the other way when you have it offleash and call for it. My dog was housebroke in 1 week. First thing you do is when she wakes up take her outside and praise. Dogs live in the moment so when disciplining do something quick to snap their brain out of what they are fixated on. A quick poke in side of neck with a simple noise like shush works real good. Best way to correct behavior is to set them up and correct immediately.
