Has anyone seen this movie? I found it very interesting. Does anyone know anything about the writer/director?

I would like to hear people's take on the movie.

Dawg- I was recommended Donnie Darko (DD) by a friend who also likes quirky, dark movies. I was very disappointed with everything about the movie. The plot was shaky, the payoff was weak and the acting was sub par.

I liked the kid who played Darko in other movies (one with Jennifer Anniston that I can?t think of the name). I thought his performance in Darko was average at best.

The whole Demon Rabbit / Supernatural Occurrence stuff was impossible to understand until I saw the extra scenes in the DVD.

I will say that it did spark my interest in the Director/Producer I would like to see another movie done by them. I liked the style of the movie but I thought this one was a faux pa.

My wife and a buddy of mine both really liked it, but I fall right about where Blazer falls. I fell asleep part way in, so I was lost when I woke up but I didn't like it before sleep either.

I don't know any other movies by that writer/director. Donnie Darko was in "The Good Girl" (the one with Aniston) which I liked. It also had John C. Reilly in it, a great actor (the one who got pulled overboard by the fishhook in The Perfect Storm among other things).

Well, I liked the movie. I thought there could be some things done better. The coloring of the movie seemed like an after-school special. But, overall, I thought the movie was good. I thought the main kid actor did a great job. He looked like a real-life teenage kid which is hard to pull off in movies. Most of the time, they over-emphasize certain characteristics to get their point across.

The writer/director's last name is Kelly. This was his first movie.

I think I misread the review that stated this. After rereading it, I think it said that it was his first movie as the writer AND director.

My bad.

Here's Ebert's review. He says the same thing in it "first time writer/director." It was probably in some press release.

IMDB is GOD for finding out those kinds of things.
