WTF is going on over there? We heard about how evil this chick is ad nauseum at the outset of the invasion. So she's been in custody all this time and now the so-called Iraqi government wants to let her go because there is no evidence against her.

They say this isn't in response to the demands of those who have killed the two hostages and are threatening to kill the third. Yet they claim that they will release her in a few days. So basically, if this new iraqi government has their way, the Brit will get his head chopped off and a few days later the hostage takers will get the release of the prisoners just as they demanded.

In the meantime, we are trying to order the Iraqi government not to release them. Definitely have no problem with that, but let's stop this bullshit about 'sovreignity'. What a clusterf*ck.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - With time running out to save a British hostage in Iraq, U.S. officials said on Wednesday they were not about to free female Iraqi prisoners as demanded by an al Qaeda ally whose group has already beheaded two Americans.

The Iraqi government said judges had ruled that a weapons scientist -- one of only two women Washington says it holds -- should be given a conditional release, but only in a few days.

It was unclear whether Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's demand for all women to be freed even referred to this pair at all -- both scientists, they worked for Saddam Hussein's secular government.

The Jordanian Islamist's Tawhid and Jihad group, responsible for some of the bloodiest violence in Iraq, says it killed American building contractors Jack Hensley and Eugene Armstrong after its demand was not met. It says their British colleague Kenneth Bigley, 62, will be next to die but has set no deadline.

Footage of the beheading of Armstrong, 52, was posted on the Internet on Monday. An Internet statement on Tuesday said Hensley, who would have turned 49 on Wednesday, had now also been killed. The U.S. embassy said it now had his headless body.

The Iraqi Justice Ministry said one of the two women in U.S. custody in Iraq, Rihab Taha, could be freed later in the day.

But the U.S. embassy said later that the two women, Taha and Huda Ammash, dubbed "Dr Germ" and "Mrs Anthrax" by U.S. forces, would not be released soon. "The two women are in legal and physical custody of the multinational forces in Iraq and neither will be released imminently," a spokesman said.

He said that although legal custody of Saddam Hussein and 11 of his top aides has been transferred to Iraqi authorities, the other 84 "high-value detainees" held by U.S. forces, including the two women, remained in U.S. legal custody.

"DR GERM" TO WALK

Kassim Daoud, the Iraqi government's national security adviser, later said Taha was one of three detainees who may be given conditional release later in the month.

"Iraqi judges decided to release them because they didn't have any evidence. The judges decided on a conditional release. It will not happen today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," he told a news conference. He said the move was unrelated to the demands of the kidnappers.

"We have sympathy for the British hostage and his family and the British people but I am afraid we have to stand firmly and reject any negotiations with the terrorists," Daoud said.

In its Internet statement on Tuesday, Zarqawi's group said that unless its demands were met, Bigley would be killed.

"Lions of the Tawhid and Jihad have slaughtered the second American hostage after the deadline," the statement said, adding that footage of the killing would be posted on the Internet.

"The British hostage will meet the same fate if the British government does not do what must be done to release him."

The statement was posted 24 hours after Hensley's compatriot Eugene Armstrong was killed, his head sawn off by a black-clad, hooded militant using a long knife. The CIA says it believes Zarqawi was probably the one wielding the blade.

The three were seized from their Baghdad home on Thursday.

In the latest in a wave of car bomb attacks in the capital this month, a suicide bomber detonated his vehicle in a crowded commercial street as dozens of men wanting to join the country's security forces queued up to photocopy their documents. Would-be recruits have been repeatedly targeted by insurgents.

Officials at Baghdad's Yarmuk hospital said 11 people were killed. At the scene, scores of sandals and shoes lay in pools of blood on the pavement. Iraqis covered burned flesh lying on the ground with store banners torn down by the explosion. A nearby ice cream stall was destroyed in the blast.

Dazed survivors were shocked the area was targeted.

"They just bombed people eating ice cream," said Humam Abdul-Hadi, owner of a nearby shop. Shrapnel wounds peppered his face and neck and his T-shirt was stained with blood.

Another suicide car bomber targeted a U.S. checkpoint in Baghdad, witnesses said. Police said three people were wounded.

HOSTAGE CRISIS

The U.S. military says Zarqawi is its top foe in Iraq and has offered $25 million for information leading to his death or capture. His group has claimed responsibility for many of the bloodiest suicide attacks in Iraq since the fall of Saddam.

But it has released some hostages including a Filipino truck driver freed after Manila withdrew its troops from Iraq.

A Canadian woman was freed after two weeks in captivity, Ottawa said on Wednesday. She had not been reported missing.

Bigley's family has urged Blair to have the two scientists freed. But Zarqawi's group has made no clear reference to them.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair, President Bush and Iraq's interim prime minister, Iyad Allawi, have repeatedly said they will not negotiate with hostage-takers.

In fighting overnight, U.S. tanks raided the Baghdad Shi'ite Muslim stronghold of Sadr City. Hospital sources said 22 people were killed and 71 wounded.

A roadside bomb attack near Saddam's hometown of Tikrit on Wednesday killed one U.S. soldier, the military said. Another soldier died of wounds sustained near Mosul, taking the U.S. military death toll since the start of the war to 789.

Near Samarra, a stronghold of the Sunni Muslim insurgency north of Baghdad, clashes between U.S. forces and insurgents left two Iraqis dead, and another two were killed when an American aircraft bombed a house in the area, police said. (Additional reporting by Mussab al-Khairalla and Mariam Karouny in Baghdad and Miral Fahmy in Dubai)

Again, cutting and pasting news articles shows us nothing Kosar. Don't you have your own opinion on ANYTHING?

Well Kosar according to you liberals she is innocent because no WMDs were found....RIGHT??????

You may want to get your facts straight. She is not being released.

I have no idea if she's innocent or not. That wasn't really the point.

What facts should I get straight? Does the newly installed Iraqi government want to release her, or not?

I never said she was going to be released.

So the very same people against whom she allegedly plied her trade want to let her go because there is no evidence against her.

And this so-called autonomous Iraqi government is being overruled by our government.

Like I said, WTF is going on over there?

Backpedalling as usual huh? lol classic

Why don't you take a page out of your buddy I LOVE WR's book and edit your post then deny saying it in the first place?

I'm not even going to get involved in this thread, there is really no point to it. You're just regurgitating everything we all see on the news anyways.

Backpedaling on *what*?

I already started a good post Kosar...It's called NEW WMD FINDINGS!!

Maybe you need to go re-read it and comment on what the inspectors found.

The only reason you say my posts are retarded is because they are accurate and the truth hurts.

well i agree with matt what is going on over there? It is a damn mess and one I must say I was all for but like i said yesterday I know when it is time to say fuk off and get out because none of these people want help, let them help themself and we do what ever it takes to keep our own homeland safe and help out our on people, hell like i said i was all for it and still am for going and steping on any one involved in acts of terror against my country and n.america , then help others if they ask and we have the man power with out messing up our on safety and spending tons of cash that could be better spent in our own country. matt is more to a mid-line person he is not far left or right he is a person who trys and think things out, he is not a belleding heart lib, that i can tell you for sure. we might not always be on the same page as the going into Iraq i was for it he was not and now what he told me long ago before we went in has come true he was dead on and now i see no-way out but to say good bye and go, like i said let the middle east or nato put the country of Iraq back together hell you won't see it they know it is a mess so why not say fuk it and take the losses we have taken and learn. And a report on fox also said the new goverment of iraq was going to release her in a few days maybe because of certain factors.
But as for matt he can fight his own fights he does not need me, i am jast stating the facts that he is far from a bleeding heart lib. or a hard core cons. he is a person who thinks with his head and takes a stance on what he feels is right unlike many people who are it is my parties way or no way , well like i said iam a repub. and i don't agree with lot of the things that go on i vote for what i feel is best for me and my vote for the war was yes and did not look at the long term shit, i still think sh had to go but looking back maybe we could of met our goal some other way, and still back homeland safety first and health care and jobs next then edu. so if you are a threat or prove to be one yes you should get squashed but we also need to know what to do when things go wrong like they are now, when is it the time to go and say fuk it, but no-one has the balls on either side to do that so close to the stupid ass election. we are in a pile of shit and i don't see away out but to pack it in and just go. Does that make me back stepping because i was all for it? well if so then so be it because i am man enough to say i was wrong at least instead of sitting on my ass doing nothing except trying to keep a job or win one and that is where we are at and will be till end of nov . it is a damn same but it is true.

Personally I like articles that cut and pasted to back up opinions.
In addition we get to read views from other sources otherwise overlooked. Might not agree with all but always open to consider.

so do I dog I am like you I get to read , and learn more about the whole mess of this election and fuk ups on both sides in the iraq pound of shit, you already know a lot more then me about these types of things , but it has really helped me out in seeing all sides even if the bs card is throwen in, least i can fileter out stuff and get a better handle on things and what suits me, best, my vote is set in steel for the run for office, i don't agree with all that has gone on with the way somethings have turned out, but if I was more into the games of war and goverment I might have had a better grasp or knowen what to expect in the long run with the whole mess in Iraq which i said i was for but thought it would be a far different out come, but will not ever vote for Kerry even though some well looks like lots of things were different then I thought with how Iraq would go down, even if I thought Kerry could keep my family and others in our own country safe which right now it might sound sad that is all i care about, things like money and health care stuff like that i have gave up along time ago on the feds and started a good while back planning my own retirement and health care, but Keery could be the best men in the world and would not vote for him because of his dip shit better then all wife who is from the area i am from pittsbugh/morgentown,fairmont. She has always talked down to the cities people and just acts like she is so much better then the people of the steel city and n.wv. So what she might have lots more money thanks to daddy but she is far from a better person then we are, hell she cares little about the middle to lower class people in that part of the country here home town, and has said many foul and degrading things about us middle class people for many of years. She is a bitch blessed with money from daddy and his dad . She has no use for people lower then who she thinks she is and has made many stupid put down statements for many years, then she goes back home a few times in this race and has the nerve to act like she cares about the (lesser people in that area) bs. so just think how she feels about the lesser then her in the whole us. he married for money and she had it, took 2 shots to get the real rich one but he got her, major bitch and have seen her many times before the race in the city and herad her foul mouth put downs, so she was a big turn off for me and many others , hell she ight cost him pa,wv,and maybe ohio she will not help him i do know that.

I just wish someone would have a game plan to get done with the job or like I said lust leave them in rubble, maybe they do and i just don't hear it but it has been different then what I expected but like i said i am not the most polished person when it comes to war and goverment and have no problem saying the truth that I am lacking in those skills or knowelge, but never really caried to get in to deep in that stuff anyway. Even homeland security i was a fool also who never thought a 9/11 whould happen even after what 92-or 94 somewhere around there when the truck bomb went off in the bottom of the trade center? Even after that i was not to worried thought it was a small part of a little extreasmest group and did not think that much about it.

Keep posting cut and paste info people helps some of us learn more then we know least it does for me then like i said i can filter through what i think is bs and use what i feel is best for me and my family and friends and our country.

have a great day and always respect your veiwpoints dtb

Thanks Eric
