Jon Lieber (3-3, 3.71 ERA) tries to avoid losing three straight starts for the Cubs. The righthander has allowed five runs and 17 hits over 12 2/3 innings in losing his last two outings to St. Louis and Arizona. He is 5-7 with a 5.06 ERA in 15 appearances vs. the Reds.

Cincinnati, which has lost eight of its last 10 games, counters with Osvaldo Fernandez (5-2, 5.44). Fernandez went three starts without a win before allowing three runs and five hits over 6 2/3 innings in Friday's 7-4 triumph over Houston. The Cuban born righthander is 1-2 with a 3.68 ERA in five games against the Cubs.
