i don't really look back that far in stats, especially with these two teams that have a large number of young players. in fact only a handful of minnesota hitters have faced holt, so his career stats against them i believe are not that relevant. mays has faced detroit once this year and 2 times last year and has pitched pretty well against them. however mays' last two starts have not been too stellar. minnesota has been getting some crappy starting pitching the last week and while i think mays has a legit chance at shutting them down, one cannot overlook the way these two teams have been hitting recently. if you look at friday's game which did not go over, there were still a lot of hits, don't know the exact amount, but close to 25 combined i believe. both bullies have been used a lot lately. i believe the total right now is 9.5, and i have not played anything on this game yet, but i have some reservations about the under. first of all is chris holt, while he has won his past two starts, he hasn't been exactly shoving it up hitters' asses. he still has been pitching with runners in scoring position throughout the contest. also with holt, lefties hit considerably better, check out some of IE's info in the other threads. minnesota, if they are smart, and kelly is a hell of a manager, should have at least 6 left-handed bats in the lineup. and many of these guys have been swinging the bat decently(this series) guzman and lawton are two that come to mind. holt has also thrown 109 and 116 pitches in his last two starts. i am interested to see how durable he will be for today's start. i don't think the ump factors in this that much, craft does have a slight lean to the over this year. the other thing that i have been noticing, it might just be me, but it seems like with this summer weather, hitters have more favorable conditions now. no more 50 degree nights in detroit getting sawed off with a 94 mph fastball on your hands, running down to first base in extreme pain. (those who have played know exactly what i am talking about it here) i have to look at this game more, but after 19 runs each of the past 2 days, i do not believe i would play the under. i lean more towards minn and the over at this point. hope to have an epiphany soon though! good luck

Comerica has seemed to be a pitchers ball park but I agree with wigs that with summer weather comes higher scores. Not sure what kind of temperature we'll get in a day game at det, but am scared of unders at this point of the season with teams who are hitting well. My lean is minny, like wigs said, kelly is a heck of a manager. Hey wigs, where you been hiding out. I enjoyed that piece you wrote. Post more often, we dig that stuff.

Billy, I'm passing on this game. I looked at it real hard and came up with a lean toward Min and under. Nothing solid enough for me to play on. Good luck

no problem, of course i won't say anything about the game since it is going on, and we are all superstitious, just wanted to reply and say thanks for the words. i don't post a lot b/c i am a small-time player and would not want anyone to do anything based on my 20 or 30 dollar bet. but i love this forum and will try to add more insight when i find it.
