comin' out of the woodwork for this....

Hey CG, what a far cry from the "boring" Pacers-Pistons East finals series. Like some of us said during the playoffs, Detroit would have given the West champs the most trouble in the Finals....and sure enough...and more!!!

As a lifelong Pistons fan (even back to the Dantley days), this was the most satisfying NBA championship, without a doubt. The blue collar work ethic of this team, especially on loose balls and defense, shone throughout the Finals like I never would have thought. Absolutely amazing performance and great coaching by Larry Brown. Against all odds--public perception, playoff inexperience, the Lakers mystique, this gritty and gutty team did it. Amazing.

Balance of power in next 10 years will shift to East, in my opinion.

Pistons, Pacers extremely young, and don't forget LeBron.

West getting older, it will at least be even in the coming years.

I don't think so. Spurs and Wolves are better than every eastern team. Lakers were severely injured in this series.

Don't forget Kings either. Healthy Webber and they are dominating. 2 years in row injuries hurt Kings.

Scott, you are incredible.

This Spurs team sucked - badly. Tony Parker has no balls, and had no one to take his clutch minutes this year. Turkoglu and Horry for Stephen Jackson, that really worked out well. And Rasho in the middle, real intimidating. They would have had the doors blown off them too.

But just keep living in fantasy world.

You have the right to your opinion. Wolves I think are the scariest team. They had 2 very good injured players this playoffs. Cassel and Hudson.

Spurs are an awesome team who play great defense and have good offense. Spurs were beat by a healthy Lakers squad. Pistons beat an injured Lakers squad. Facts are facts.

One last thing, it prob. means little to you, but I would bet my entire account if there was a prop bet on who will win the championship next season, west or east. I would bet it all on West.

I would bet it all on East. Pistons have an excellent chance to repeat, and I would not count out Pacers either.

I do agree Minny was best in West if healthy. Pistons still would have beaten them, horrible matchup. Unfortunately, Minny will not get repeat from Spreewell, and Cassell looks to be a chronic injury problem for the rest of his career.

Sac needs to reconfigure as well. Simply not tough enough defensively.

Spurs were significantly worse this year, overrated defensively, and had very few offensive options.

I am not biased. Could care less which conference is better, no effect on my life. Western Conference is going to be reconfigured, and players are going to move. The Mavs will never win a championship. Memphis is a high riser in West, and they have Garnett, but sun setting on this Lakers edition, and I am not as big a believer in Spurs as others.

Comments not so much a knock on West as what I see as dramatic improvement in East. The talent is there, and LeBron is going to be the driving for in basketball for the next 15 years. It's only starting with him.

I admit, I discounted Yao, I am a big believer in Van Gundy and the Rockets, and I feel they will eventually get there.

YIKES, USC -17 vs V-Tech. That sucks. I was gonna bet my whole account on USC -3 or less. (yes I know I was reaching for -3)

I would take V-Tech +17 in a heartbeat. USC has new OL, new WR, veteran but new DB's as well. USC very easily could struggle in game and V-Tech has mobile QB (which I hate playing against). USC also plays subs in blowout so backdoor is highly likely. Plus Williams might not make it back and rumor has it the start upcoming WR might have grade problems. ENough about USC.

I strongly disagree with you about this east vs west argument.

THE PISTONS JUST BEAT AN INJURED LAKERS SQUAD!!!!!!!!!! Please please don't forget that. A healthy Malone would make huge difference. (not saying automatic Lakers win) Remember Fisher was hurt too, twisted knee against Wolves. Malone + Fisher = 2 best role players without question. Sucked but injuries part of game. Ask Kings or Wolves. Same mess.

One more thing about the Pistons. Every team the Pistons beat in the playoffs was injured. Remember that. Don't forget that. Not the only reason Pistons won it all, but it def. played a part.

How were Spurs over-rated on defense? They had same stats as Pistons defense and Spurs play in the west where offenses are much much better. Please, this eastern championship is getting into your head. Spurs were a DAMN good team and I would bet huge a healthy Spurs team beats healthy Piston team. HUGE $$$

As for the Kings. Kings would have won the championship 2 years ago if Webber did not get hurt against Dallas. They were playing awesome ball. This year they had hurt Webber and no Bobby Jackson who is an awesome player.

Wolves will win the championship next year IMO unless Kobe goes to the Spurs. Kobe could win a title every year with the Spurs and still make ton of $$$$. Spurs have the money and can keep same team together.

I agree Kings would have won it with healthy team 2 years ago, no doubt. But sun seems to be setting on them as well. I think players are going to move between conferences, and I strongly believe LeBron is going to attract an army in Cleveland.

Pistons won this year, they have a reasonable chance next year.

I don't see Twolves doing it without adding a few parts, but I agree, if they are whole next year with no injuries, they will be super dangerous.

(Thanks for your thoughts on USC/VT...I expected this to be at least DD. Will have to see how this moves.)

Good luck!
