FWIW-The 4-12 Eagles of Eastern Washington will be without leading scorer Justin Crosgile tonight as they do battle with the 5-10 Fighting Sioux* of North Dakota. Not good news for the Eagles who are their worst away from home(0-7). Although they do average 70ppg they scored just 53 points @ home in their last game. They are giving up almost 77ppg. The Sioux are not "World Beaters" by any means, but they are @ home and have won 3 of their last 5 games. Scored a season high 86 points in their latest contest. Their leading scorer, Troy Huff, has been solid averaging 20ppg after missing the first 8 games of the season. Hard to wager a lot of $$$ on a 5-10 team, but I believe North Dakota can easily cover the 4.5 points tonight.

*I think the PC Police made North Dakota drop their nickname, but they will always be the Fighting Sioux in my heart!!!:D

i happened to read this from beat reporter earlier in the week, just a fyi

? Eastern hasn't had a very successful basketball season but if Thursday night is any indication ? coming as it does on the heels of two decent performances on the road in Montana ? the Eagles might be turning the corner.

I'm not sure there is any correlation between EWU's improved play and the departure of transfer point guard Justin Crosgile, but I'm not one to put much faith in coincidence. The ball seemed to move a bit quicker within the offense last night, the defense seemed a bit more solid out front and the smiles from Collin Chiverton and the rest of the Eagles seemed to show up more often. But that all could be because the Eagles shot well, posting their best shooting performance of the season.

Eastern frustrated Northern Arizona on both ends and that frustration boiled over in the form of two technicals, one on coach Jack Murphy and one on freshman guard DeWayne Russell.

The Eagles were physical and they played hard for the most part from the tip to final buzzer, something that couldn't have been said in the two earlier games I watched.
