getting as many responses as possible, as this should provide a good opportunity for us as bettors to relive the good and the bad of the college hoops season thats about to close. coulda probably posted this in the college hoops forum, but with no real marquee games for 6 days- figured it would get more views and generate more responses in here.

everyone jog their memories as best as possible and personally answer these questions. feel free to answer them all, answer a couple, or add any anecdote you feel like.

=============================================
here are the categories:
BEST WIN OF THE SEASON
not necessarily looking for a bet that provided you with a huge monetary gain. im sayin' what game did you bet on this season that you flat out NAILED. either a big dog that won outright right from the opening tip where the result was never in doubt, or maybe a small chalk that absolutely annihilated their opponent. in other words, a game where when it goes final- you say "dammit i wish they are ALL that easy
WORST LOSS OF THE SEASON
obviously lookin for the opposite of the previous category. what game did you bet on that you flat out had no chance of winning as soon as the ball was thrown up to start the game? we should all be able to make fun of ourselves at some point, because we all have flat out clunkers. basically, here im looking for games where you were better off writing a check out to the united way and donating it to the kids that could use the money as opposed to the book you play at. just a game that you werent even close to cashing, lol.
MOST IMPROBABLE WIN
heres where im looking for "fluke-type stuff". the backdoor cover as time expires. the buzzer-beating cover. the under that you had that had no points scored in the final 5:00. the over that you bet that had 5 billion points scored in the final minute or two. doesnt matter whether its a side or total. just one game that you had NO BUSINESS winning, and yet you someone won it
MOST FRUSTRATING LOSS
again, simply the opposite of the previous category. the game where your team covered for 38:00 of the 40:00, and then somehow had a complete freakin meltdown. or a game where you lost at the buzzer, got backdoored in the final seconds, or whatever.
BEST TEAM FOR YOU TO BET ON, BOTH FOR AND AGAINST
this one should be self-explanatory. we've all got certain teams that just seem to be cash-machines because when we bet on em, they win for us, and when we bet against em, they know their role and lose the game- making us winners for bettin against them
TEAM THAT ABSOLUTELY JAMMED YOU THIS SEASON
lookin for the team that consistently whoops your a$$ and plays like world-beaters when you bet against em. and then as soon as you try and bet ON THEM, they play like freakin retards and cant find the hoop in their lives depended on it.
=============================================

by the way, since theres so many games to choose from, feel free to throw in multiple responses to each question if applicable

heres my votes for the 2003 season:

best win(s) of the season........my two that stand out as "i wish they were all that easy" type of plays were uconn moneyline over boston college in the 2nd meeting this season....uconn jumped on bc right from the start and scored the first like 13 points of the game and won 91-54 as a 2.5 point dog...and then a close second would have to be creighton (-3) in the missouri valley championship game....jays started off the game on an absurd run and were up 42-16 at halftime and won 80-56...definitely two games that were over in the first 5:00 of play

worst loss(es) of the season.....i can definitely think of a couple gms where i was better off donating to the united way...had michigan state plus the points vs illinois in the meeting in champaign....spartans got their azzes handed to them to the tune of 70-40....a true boneheaded, never-had-a-chance play, lmao...and not far behind is me betting ucla plus the points in the first meeting this season against arizona in pauley...bruins were getting 10, but needed a million more pts to cover...they lost 87-52 at HOME, lmao. i needed my head examined after those two plays.

most improbable win(s) of the season....kent state minus the 7 or 8 points over miami ranks right up there with the best of em. kent got ripped a new azz at home in the 1h by miami. laying 8 pts. flashes were down by 19 in the first half. they not only came back to win, but miami went ice cold in the final 5:00 and kent came from 19 down to cover an 8-pt spread

most frustrating loss.....this one is NO CONTEST...in fact, this ranks up there with one of my worst gambling beats of all time. had butler moneyline (+125) over hawaii earlier this season... needed the bulldogs to complete the final leg of a parlay that woulda paid out a couple dimes...butler absolutely dominated hawaii the entire game...the bulldogs were up 64-49 with 3:50 left....a FIFTEEN POINT LEAD with under 4:00 left...and as we all know, the way butler plays- that 15 pt lead seems like 20 or 25 to the opponent since butler works shot clock...it was absolutely sickening to see them completely choke....hawaii goes on a 19-4 run to win the game in overtime....normally im even-keel and can roll with the punches, but i couldnt even sleep that night....to make it worse, butler covered the 3.5, but i had the moneyline at +125 and had 2 or 3 dimes slip out of my hands because of one of the biggest fold-jobs ive ever been associated with as a bettor. that one stung, and its easily the most frustrating loss of this season.

best team for me to bet on this season......surprisingly, creighton was an outstanding team for me...they were overvalued for a lot of the season, but it seems like every time i bet them, they absolutely dominated and cashed for me, and when i went against em, they cashed for me as well....unlv did well for me this season too....whenever i backed em, they came up with the cash for me (i.e against utah on the road, against wyoming on the road, against utah in the conference tourney) and when i went against the rebs, they cashed for me too (fading em vs hawaii in the nit and against colorado state in the mwc championship)... also had outstanding success with usc in the pac-10...they were jekyl and hyde, but they did well for me when i bet em and did well for me when i faded em

team that absolutely jammed me this season..... this is another no-contest category.....hawaii absolutely pounded me this season... that butler debacle was a sign of things to come from the bows this season for me....everytime i went against em, they pounded me...bet against em in conference, they screwed me... they jammed me vs tulsa in the first meeting in hawaii, they jammed me against rice in hawaii, they jammed me against kent state in the bracket buster....then id try and bet ON hawaii, and they get drilled in rice late in the season....then i tried em AGAIN vs rice in the conference tourney and that game was an absolute trip the way it played out.....i think the bows felt bad for taking all my money this year so they FINALLY gave me a winner in one of their games a week ago in the nit when they blew out unlv. but overall, riley wallace and company can lick my nutsack.

Vegas baby!
i have a nominee for most frustrating loss:

Kent St. losing at home against Hawaii

up to that point in the season, Hawaii couldnt beat a special olympics team on the road...and of course i put down a decent amount of cash on the Flashes. needless to say my alma mater never showed up...ugh

Kent had an altogether disappointing season.

biggest comeback win............

I think it was against Tulsa.............but Hawaii was down like 14 points with just over two minutes left...........came back and won in overtime.........reason why I remember that was I had Hawaii on the MoneyLine...........huge huge comeback :D

(and note......I know this is the wrong sport.......but when I lost the over/under in the Calgary/Ducks game I was beyond pissed.....why...why you say.....Calgary scored with 0.1 seconds left...yep that's right 0.1 seconds!!! Still pissed off about that......0.1 seconds.....can you believe that  )

Gman,

HAWAII -3' v Butler...12/30/02

Final: HAWAII 81-78

From a "quick" Technical Handicapping point of view, a review of both teams portfolios shows HAWAII's previous performance as 4-0 SU and 3-0-1 ATS. Butler is 10 SU and 5-2 ATS.

Given the C/L and a review of both teams previous performances, there is no decided advantage to either side in this matchup.

G, my worst loss was on Oklahoma St. vs. Syracuse. When the Coyboy's jumped out to that HUGE lead,I was counting my moola. It was a shock to see an Eddie Sutton coached team fall apart like that.:(

One thing about that hard loss was it showed me something about Syracuse and their mental state and unwillingness to quit so I hammered them vs. Oklahoma (because of the fact they were an underdog, and basically playing at home):)

My biggest win's have been betting Marquette,on the moneyline through the tournament. All I can say is,Thank's to them,'I'm going to Disneyland";)

The team that I could not win on,whether I bet on or against was.........................................................INDIANA, gosh they freak'n killed me all year long.I will never be able to watch the movie Hoosier's again. Excuse me while I go throw up,I'm starting to have flashback's:com:

Great post. This was my best year in college hoops.

Best win by far for me was
Brown over Princeton at Princeton.
Brown was +10 and I really felt they should have been no worse than a pk. So I bet the money line an straight up for a nice hit.

To be continued

Best Win- Syracuse over Oklahoma (bet more than I usually do)

Worst Loss- Okla St. -2.5 vs. Okla Okla St. wins by 2 (Sampson runs out on the court and should have gotten a Technical foul. I am sure a lot of you had the other side and won.)
I guess this is actually most frustrating loss.

Best team to bet on for me was Texas I think I bet them about 6 or 7 times and I think I lost once.

Team that jammed me was DePaul. I just looked back and I went 0-5 with them this year.
They owe me money. All this thread did was get me riled up about DePaul. I had almost forgot about them.

Best win was CSFullerton getting 20 vs an overrated USU team that they beat 3times if not for the refs.

Worseloss- Tulsa getting 8.5 at Gonzo losing by 9 after being up 9 with 10 min left.

Best team for me was- Kentucky rode thier win streak but they let me down at 20-1 to win it all.

Worseteam for me- faded Washington Huskies too many times early in season and that cost me some, but still had a decent year.

Most improbable win- UCI-Cal Riverside getting 25 pts in last 2min to go over 137.5 at the buzzer

he hate me- your post brought back bad memories of that tulsa/gonzaga game. i was on the hurricane as well that night. up 9 at half i believe. then like you said, up 9 with 10:00 left. they absolutely folded. that one is definitely up there in the "tough loss" column.

My worst lost was Central Michigan losing to Akron at home, I havn't layed a bet on MACC teams since.

And another tough lost was one Maryland second half, and needed Randle to hit 1 of 2 to cover and he misses both. :moon:

Team that made money was Cali, able to play great at home but lose away, well thats most Pac10.

Team that loses me money is Oregon, never knew which team would show up. And the whole damn MACC!!

Worst loss-Didn't shop around during first round of NCAAs and took UCONN -5.5 vs. BYU in round one. BYU hit that last second lay up to put the final at 58-53.

Bad way to get the tourney going.

jroot:

youre right- that last second sequence in byu/uconn game was strange. uconn, as im sure you know, we up by seven and WITH THE BALL with 0:01. hansen not only steals the ball, but gets off a quick shot that im surprised counted- and that was a tough loss for you.
