Went to first showing....9:30 am ..... I don't want to give away too much...just a taste...

Tale takes place in 1899, openning in London England with a tank
running thru and pillaging the Bank of England's securist vault.
Look closely they are wearing Nazi WW2 style helmets...thank you Hollywood, dare not forget the atrocities...

A group including Fictional characters...Quartermain (Sir Sean)
Invisible man, Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde, Dorian Grey (of the painting fame),Capt Nemo (inventor extraordinair) Tom Sawyer ( U.S. secret service) and Mrs Harker (of Dracula fame) are recruited
to battle a menace to world peace....(turns out to be another literary character) No more hints, sorry

Kind of a movie you have to "go with"....Sub-machine guns,
fast automobile, and a fast submarine larger than the Titanic..
all in 1899....a definite stretch technologically speaking; but that
is why these people are extraordinary...

Fairly action packed, lots of obligatory shoot em up and blow things up....some of the generated effects were hard to follow
in all the darkness and some a tad hokey....

Story kind of dragged in beginning as they had to introduce most characters and some of their angst....being literary characters
guess they had to; as no one reads anymore..

Thought most interesting character was Dr Jeckyll and his Hulk-like
counterpart...

Sean Connery is as always, an entertaining performer...he takes Tom Sawyer under his wing as a sub-conscience replacement for his dead son...who apparently was not ready for prime time as he was with dad on mission when killed

on a four star scale I give it two and a half....not a blockbuster,
just good fantasy fare..

Just go with it.....

interesting, i've been wanting to see this, and I'm glad u didn't say it flat out sucked. I'll look for the helmets. I also think a tank in 1899 is stretching it a tad much as well, lmao!

"the bunker"
i would think

i would think

that some of the relevance of the characters might be lost on the teenagers and young adults........dorian gray, captain nemo, jeckyl and hyde....i don`t know how much youngsters read nowadays.....if it`s not derived from a comic book or a video game,it may not register........

Saw it this morning and loved it. Tried not to be too judgemental and just enjoyed it for what it was.....a fantasy movie based on a graphic novel. The imagination made the movie money well spent.

I seen it and it sucked sooie. Sean Connery gets shot, knifed, and in a death throw about five times and survives. PUHD said it best if you like these kind of fantasy movies its ok, I couldnt bear to sit through the whole movie. Couldnt even sleep right.
