2* PHILADELPHIA over Minnesota
We realize that it is just week 2, but already we are getting a MNF matchup that could very well be a preview of the NFC Championship game. Both team's offenses looked great in their openers as Philadelphia rolled over the Giants 31-17 and Minnesota rolled over Dallas 35-17. That said, both teams were a little bit careless defensively as Minnesota allowed a whopping 423 total yards, and Philadelphia allowed 413 yards. Philadelphia?s problem was stopping the run, while Minnesota struggled to stop the pass. Minnesota is just 1-5 ATS on the road last few seasons after allowing 300 or more yards passing, and they are 2-6 ATS last two seasons after covering a game as a home favorite. Meanwhile, Philadelphia should bounce-back as they are 17-4 ATS since 1990 season, and 11-1 ATS since 1998 after allowing 400 or more total yards in their last game. Philadelphia is 16-7 ATS since 1990 when playing on MNF, and Monday Night Football home favorites of less than minus 6 pts are 8-1 ATS since 1989 when the game involves two unbeaten teams after week 1, and Philadelphia is 8-3 ATS since 1993 when facing an unbeaten team, including a 6-1 ATS mark versus unbeaten teams here at home. The number of note in this game is 21 pts. If you think, like we do, that Philadelphia will score at least 21 pts then they are the side. Philadelphia is a solid 24-7 ATS since 1996 in home games where they have scored 21 or more pts, while Minnesota is just 14-28-1 ATS during that same span when they allow 21 or more on the road. Note that Minnesota is just 5-18 SU on the road since 2000 when allowing 21 or more pts, so despite having an explosive offense they usually do not get it done when playing another good offensive team. Philadelphia gets it done at home tonight.
