Fairfield -2.5 over St peter
Stags have to much of everything to lose this game.Granted they have somewhat peaked. But they still have 4 guys over 6'9 that play a lot.Gai hasen't had a big game in awhile. But Stag gds are quick and inside game should dominate.Fairfield has no pure shooters so Leckie plays a packed zone. But Clark is the only guy who could start for fairfield. This kid can play. But his susporting cast is just avg.Peter gets no crowd, has lost at home to almost everyone and by the spread. The line should be 6 or 7 so its great value at -2.5.
Stags are on top in the hunt for the title in the MAAC.No way they lose tonite in Jersey City.Very strong play on Stags.

Hofstra -16 over Towson
Pride has taking a slide even with Apodaca back. But tonite its"run ,run, run till your daddy takes the T bird away".They did lose at home to NC-Wilma by 4.But Wilma is the best team in the conf. This is a game you take out all your season frustrations.Towson vs the spread is 3-13.Thats at home,on the road and tonite on the Long Island Expressway.

VCU -1 over JMU...to much overall talent.VCU has covered on the road all season.

Memphis -15.5 over TCU....think they blow them out tonite
Boston +2 over the Johnnies..hate betting with Skinnner but Johnnies have no inside game.

Dayton -3 over URI..close game but barrons kids fade at the end.Dayton almost beat XU on the road. They should handle URI

One big game.. Fairfield

Box -- I jumped on Fairfield as soon as I saw the line: -2 at Oly.

I see Oly is putting up totals on all games now; might be something to look at for Hofstra.

Stay warm up there.

As did I. I think that this line is low due to St Petersblowing out and equally $hitty Cansius team. Fairfield it too strong for St. Peters. However, why is the line now Fairfield -1.5 @ Olympic?

Well, lemme' chime in here....

I've been working on a little ATS theory having to do with the performance of a team in the role of a Home Favorite.

It may well apply in this matchup.

You guys decide....

On 1/26 on their home floor, FAIRFIELD -11' beat St. Peters, 79-57. They covered the number by +10' ATS.

Since then, FAIRFIELD has played seven games, five in the role of a Home Favorite.

Excluding the win/cover on 1/26, I will show the five ATS results for the subsequent Home Favorite Roles.

2/22/03..... +4.....@Niagara... L 79-83...... P
2/17/03.....-6'...... Rider.......... L 56-58......L.....-8' ATS
2/15/03.....-10'.... Marist......... W 67-56... W...+1/2 ATS
2/13/03.....+11'... @Mnhttn..... W 70-68... W
2/09/03......-5'...... Niagara...... L 74-85..... L.....-16' ATS
2/06/03.....-7........ Canisius..... W 72-68.... L....-3 ATS
1/30/03.....-4'....... Siena.......... L 71-74..... L.....-7' ATS
1/26/03.....-11'..... St. Peter's.. W 79-57... W

Since the win/cover v St. Peter's on 1/26, Fairfield has had five opportunities in the role of a Home Favorite.

They covered one time by a half point.

The good news for us Fairfield backers here is that the Stags are ON THE ROAD tonite.

Fairfield is 7-2-1 ATS on the road for the season including 2-0-1 ATS away in their L10 games.

I think Vegas might be reading too much into Fairfield's recent slide and the revenge angle here.

I understand Fairfield is on the road.

That's the point.

The performance of a team in the role of a Home Favorite is, in effect, the litmus test for any team (This is years of study and research getting crammed into a couple of sentences here).

In some situations (???), it has a direct effect on their performance wherever they play.

It's especially noticeable whenever they re-appear in the role of a favorite.

I'll tell you this....

the matchup tonight between F'Field- @ ST PETERS is very similar to three matchups in the past few days:

L'vlle -2' @ CINC
App St -2' @ GREENSBORO
Toledo -6 @ BUFFALO

Of those three matchups, CINCY won in a rout and App St and Toledo covered by the skin of their teeth.

I have an ATS opinion on why CINCY blew L'vlle out and the other two matchups landed very close to the number..

Both CINCY and ST PETERS have something that GREENSBORO and BUFFALO did not have....

a portfolio which includes a quality win.

Buddy --

Now I get ya.

And I agree with you...except that I've been posting all season that a home game at the Arena in Bridgeport is like a road game for Fairfield. It's too far from the campus to get many students and playing in front of 2000 fans in a 12,000 seat arena, the Stags might as well be on a neutral court.

So I agree with your theory, I just discount it a little in terms of Fairfield.
