Vikings to start Bennett

The Vikings' revolving door at running back took another strange turn Friday when coach Mike Tice confirmed that Michael Bennett would start Sunday's NFC North showdown in Green Bay in place of Onterrio Smith.
"He bruised his shoulder in the game the other night," Tice said of Smith, referring to Monday night's 31-28 loss at Indianapolis. "There's nothing going on there. Michael and Onterrio are both going to play a lot."
Smith, who started the first three games for the Vikings this season, rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries against the Colts in his first game back from a four-game NFL suspension. He isn't listed on the team's injury report, and said after Friday's practice that he was good to go.
"My shoulder's fine," Smith said. "There's nothing that's going to keep me away from doing that. It's just a little stinger."
Bennett, who entered the preseason as the Vikings' No. 1 running back, has carried 11 times for 38 yards and a touchdown in three games after missing the first five while recovering from two injuries to his right knee.
The former University of Wisconsin star, who has been plagued by injuries since his 1,296-yard Pro Bowl season in 2002, declined to be interviewed.
Rookie Mewelde Moore, who moved into the starting job while Smith was serving his suspension, did not practice again Friday because of an ankle injury and is expected to miss his second consecutive game. Officially, he's listed as questionable.
