Farmers Insurance Open
Thursday, January 20th through Sunday, January 23rd
Tiger Woods make his 2011 debut in the Farmers Insurance Open Odds this week at Torrey Pines. This tournament goes all the way back to 1927 and for the most part was known as the Buick Invitational. Tiger won it six times and he has basically owned the Torrey Pines course at San Diego in his career. There are actually two courses at Torrey Pines, North and South and the players will play once each on each course on Thursday and Friday with the final two rounds held on the South Course.

The South Course at Torrey Pines is where the 2008 U.S. Open was played and Tiger won that tournament as well. Woods is the favorite this week with odds of +230 at SBG. Phil Mickelson is the second choice in the wagering. He will be making his 21st consecutive appearance in the tournament. He's won the event three times and has seven top-five finishes. While much of the attention will be on Tiger and Phil, neither has won a tournament in a while and neither should be favored. Tiger has fallen to third in the World rankings having not won a tournament in more than a year while Phil has fallen to sixth and has not won since last year?s Masters.
The defending champ is Ben Crane who won by a shot last year over Michael Sim, Brandt Snedeker and Marc Leishman. Ten times in the last fourteen years this event has been won by a player who is a native of Southern California. That bodes well for someone like Rickie Fowler who tied for fifth in his debut last year. He is the fourth choice in the betting this week at odds of 25-1. An interesting longshot this week is Bill Haas who is leading the all-around rankings on the PGA Tour so far this Golf betting season. Haas is listed with odds of 32-1.
