Favored Big Brown grabs No. 1 post at Belmont

All eyes will be on the Belmont Stakes on Saturday as Big Brown tries to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

And betED.com has plenty of props available for the race, as well as the basic betting line that has Big Brown as a -350 favorite to win the 140th Belmont Stakes.

On Wednesday, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner became an even bigger favorite thanks to landing the No. 1 post for the race. Big Brown drew the inside position against nine rivals.

His main challenger, Kentucky-bred and Japanese-trained Casino Drive, will start from the No. 5 post. Casino Drive is +325 to win the Belmont at betED.com.

Other contenders include Denis of Cork, who rallied from 20th to finish third in the Kentucky Derby, at +900, and Tale of Ekati at +1500.

betED.com Belmont Props include Big Brown?s margin of victory (1-5 lengths, -500; 6-10 lengths, +350; over 10 lengths, +1000), and whether Big Brown?s winning time will be faster than Affirmed?s time of 2:26 4/5 in 1978 (yes, +200; no, -300).

Big Brown is undefeated, winning five races by a combined 39 lengths. The horse will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux, who was the jockey on Real Quiet in 1998 when the 3-year-old colt missed the title by a nose to Victory Gallop.

Casino Drive will be looking for a third-straight win after winning the May 10 Peter Pan Stakes. The half-brother to Rags to Riches and Jazil, winners of the past two Belmont Stakes, Casino Drive will be ridden by two-time Belmont winner Edgar Prado.

Denis of Cork placed third behind Big Brown in the Kentucky Derby, after breaking from the 16th post position. Jockey Robby Albarado will ride the colt in the Belmont.

The Belmont starts at 5 pm ET on Saturday and can be seen on ABC.
