I am fairly new to madjack. I want to know who everybody roots for. List as many teams for each sport as you want. List home town teams you root for or any team at all. Thanks.

NFL- Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders
NBA- Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics
MLB- Texas Rangers, New York Yankees (not on the bandwagon, I liked them better in the 80's , Mattingly, Sax, Randolph, Winfield, Cerone, etc.)
NHL- Dallas Stars
NCAA Football- Big University of Texas Fan.
NCAA Basketball- Duke (Coach K has the best program year in and year out), Texas
Golfers- Fred Couples, Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Lehman

As you can see I am a big hometown team guy, I find it amusing when people hate their home town team.

I am sure this thread has been done before, but if you have time would love to know affiliations.

Will probably do one to see who people absolutely hate.

Any team I have money on.

It really changes day to day. But if forced to pick a favorite team it would have to be The Patriots.

University of Georgia in all sports comes first
University of Kentucky basketball--born in raised in the Bluegrass and taught that UK b-ball players were gods

Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals

Dallas Mavericks--started following them when they drafted Mashburn and had Jason Kidd and Jimmy Jackson (how in the hell did that team suck?-- the three J's was a complete bust! I also love how Cuban runs this organization with passion. Every team should have an owner like him or Arthur Blank (Falcons).

Soccer--US National then Arsenal--Henry is my favorite forward in the game.

Favorite Golfer--Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Nick Price and Craig Stadler

Billliards--Allison Fisher

Poker--Daniel Negreanu (I am still waiting to see Nolan in a televised tournament;))

Hence the name.......

Hence the name.......

College- UAB (University of Alabama-Birmingham "The Blazers")
NFL-Tennessee Titans
NHL-Predators

Others can change, for instance I found myself rooting for Notre Dame last season. In Pro sports, I tend to root for owners instead of teams. Example: I like Green Bay because the city owns them , but I usually cheer against the Cowboys because I don't like Skelator a.k.a. Jerry Jones.
:look:

Ed, did you see the outburst by Montreal GM Savard?
He had to be restrained from attacking an official......

Also, why the Habs? Why not the Leafs?

Cheers

Happy New Year to you....:)

Time:

I've never seen either the Canadiens or Leafs play, but I've always thought that Montreal was hockey. They had that huge streak way back when when they won a ton of Stanley Cups. Just always thought of them as the quintisential team in hockey.

Kinda like what the Yankees are to baseball, Packers to football, Celtics to basketball, UCLA to college basketball and Notre Dame to college football. Lot of tradition, history and good stuff like that. Realize that the Leafs have a ton of that also but, just had this fascination with the habs since I was a kid.

PS. Happy New Year to you also. How are the studies coming?

MLB-- THE OAKLAND ATHLETICS. I have been a huge die-hard fan since 1968. Have seen them play over 250 times and the nearest mlb park is 300 miles from Iowa. Last summer I flew out to California and saw 8 A's games for the first time in their home park.

NCAA-- Iowa Hawkeyes

NFL-- San Diego Chargers

NBA-- Who cares

NHL-- Who cares

GOLFER-- Olin Browne

Teams I hate-- Nebraska, Notre Dame, Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New York Skankees.

You live on the wrong side of the state-- Chicago is only 180 miles from Davenport, with Milwaukee only 200 or so away from here. Easy to get to Wrigley, Comiskey or Miller Park from Davenport-- all interstate-- I can make it to Comiskey in 2.75 hours......
