FBI Crime Report for 2014: Crime Down Again

The FBI has released their nationwide crime report for the year of 2014.

As the self-styled resident "the sky is NOT falling" member of Madjacks, I thought I would share the highlights

All Violent Crimes down 1 percent over 2013.

Murders down 1.2 percent compared to 2013, 6.1 percent lower than five years earlier, and 20.8 percent lower than just 10 years ago.

Where were you in 2003? Remember it fondly? Murders were 20% more common back then!
Was your childhood in the 60's/70's/80's? Yeah Murder was about 100% more common back then.

Maybe 2015 will be the year crime went back up, randomly or because of a new trend, but for now, just maybe, things aren't so terrible after all.

Bad news for the media and politicians who use fear to separate you from your money and liberty.

I've actually heard about that info, and it is NOT good news. Still, some statistical noise could account for some of it. :shrug:
To wit, in San Francisco we have enjoyed a similar decline over the past 20 years as has been seen nationwide. But we have still had years where there were 10-30% increases only to go right back down the next year.
Let's hope that's the case in the cities cited in that article.

Some people just don't mind being in prison and it's not a punishment for them. I have a good friend from high school that's been in and out and he has no problems going back. The threat of prison doesn't keep him from doing things and IMO that's a bad problem because I'm sure there are a lot of people like that.
