Since the Oscar bout, I've had a pretty bad run. I vowed never to place such a high wager on a bout again, I had about 75% of my annual profits on Oscar.

Just now I placed 175% of my remaining profits on this line: Arce/Darchinyan will NOT go the full 12 rounds, -275. My concern here is that Darch's 1-punch power is overrated. It took 5 rounds of lopsided beatings to get Kirilov out, and 9 lopsided rounds to get Mijares out. I think his power is cumulative, it's not 1-punch.

That said, I think Arce is done, and is going to brawl with everything he has left, and hope for a body shot to bring this to a quick halt. Darch should be able to pound awya on Arce all night, and probably force a stoppage around 7 or 8, Arce has looked very shaky as of late by lighter punchers. Arce should stand and trade, and there is a possibility he gets a body shot or a surpirse chin shot on a tiring Vic, for him to get the KO.

I can see this going 9, but not 12, the punishment will overwhelm either guy. Then again I said that about Vasquez/Marquez 3, but I think Darch's resistance is more questionable than those two, and I think Arce is in more battle-worn than either of those two. If it goes the distance, I'm deep in the black for the first time ever, and am either temporarily retired or down to 20$ max bets. Had I seen this line coming, I would have saved all of my bets in the past few weeks and put it all on this bout.

I don't have the funds to play anything else, but good luck to those of you who do!

!

i see what you`re saying,buddy....but arce is a different type of fighter than master boxer mijares and smallish cutie kirilov....

his game is pretty much the same as darchinyan`s....seek and destroy....and defense isn`t exactly arce`s forte....

of course, seems of late that every time i think i have styles pegged, somebody changes their stripes for the first time in forever...

i understand your trepidation...i`m with you...i haven`t exactly been on fire since dlh.....but i think this thing is going to come to a brutal ending for somebody...

thay`re the same size...it`s a righty/lefty match-up with two guys that tend to lunge in with shots(a cut stoppage wouldn`t surprise me one bit)....

i think it`s a sound play...

one more thing...if one guy reverts to more of a stick and move strategy,it`s probably vic... i`m not sure arce can change his style...he`s a hunter....but even vs donaire, vic kept coming forward even after getting hurt...

it`s gonna be bombs away...i wanted to play vic strong in some parlays, but,i think that arce may be more durable...

great fight...hope it plays out the way we expect it to...

g.l.

"the bunker"
it comes down to arce`s better chin...and those vicious left hooks to the body....vs vic`s awkwardness, lefty stance and power...

arce seems to gain steam as the fight progresses...and can take alot of punishment without slowing down...but,this will be the hardest puncher he`s seen since carbajal...

and he had real trouble with lefty tomas rojas...maybe it was the height...

btw...i`ve decided not to touch the under 8.5...

anybody else think -400 is steep?...

-400 for won't go? that is kind of steep, there is a slight chance darch goes to outbox him rather than ko him. parlay material maybe?

im glad we're on the same side g-dub, great point about potential cuts or headbutts. they do lunge and they will be fighting in close at times, a clash of heads stoppage is just fine for me!

i agree about arce's durability, and he has been really wobbled as of late by lesser punchers, and this bout is in neutral territory, he wont have the luxury of mexican crowd or a slow-stoppage ref.

@nj
I'm not saying that I dont like your wager (even though I have a small bet on the fight to go over 8.5 rounds), but its always a high risk to bet a substantial part of your bankroll on a single fight!

Hope it works out for you!

@gw
-400 is very steep IMO, maybe people are still high on Vic because of his great performance against Mijares...but Arce is no foregone conclusion...

Arce might just have the better chin and in a war of attrition that might be the deciding factor....

I thought you meant -400 for Vic!?

Vic by decision @+567!?

I think thats worth a gamble....

NJ I will be playing the fight does NOT go 12 prop as well....good luck to us

I think this will end somewhere between 8 and 10...wouldn't be surprised if it were earlier....a decision would very much surprise me

but keep in mind I also thought Berto would KO Collazo and Taylor would KO Lacy. SO maybe I am over-rating Vic's power....hopefully not.

I'm a bit disappointed I haven't seen any lines on the Andre Ward fight, the Soto-Karass fight, and the Kid Diamond-Demarco scrap. I had planned plays for all three. And all three are televised fights. Hopefully they pop up today.

Good luck guys.

you're absolutely right Zerwas, this play is too big, i just really like the line and am partially acting out of frustration. bad idea, i know, but if there was a line to overbet, i think its the one i got.

glad to see you're on board Ghost. Taylor and Lacy were friends, and Collazo had an akward style for Berto.

if Arce and Darch come to fight, and both men take their bouts passionately and personally, they will be in front of each other all night, with no love lost. arce cant let himself fall into the ropes here, it will get stopped.

NJ good to see you back, I might add.

I look forward to the insight you bring to the table brother.

I don't like the way Arce looks in the workout photos. And he didn't show up to the presser last week either. Either he is training really hard, or he REALLY knows what is coming to him.

as I stated previously, Arce barely scraped by Concepcion, and I thought he clearly lost to the Thai guy. However, Travieso has HUGE heart.

I like the won't go 12 prop, of course, because it covers Arce winning by KO. But my prediction for the fight is a mini-war with Darchinyan scoring a dramatic KO. Two face first guys who listen to the crowd when the punches land. I think we are in good shape here.

My plays so far are:

FRIDAY:

LARGE parlay Ward/Guerrero/Vanes M./Chagaev
MEDIUM Guerrero under 5.5
MEDIUM Henry
SMALL Dolan
SMALL Carson Jones

SATURDAY

LARGE parlay Darchinyan/Chagaev/Vanes M.
MEDIUM Chagaev under 8.5
MEDIUM Darchinyan/Arce does not go 12
SMALL Darchinyan ITD

OF course, as others stated, Arce by KO probably a smart hedge

still considering Maidana and/or Demarco
You never know which Kid Diamond will show up

good luck....looks like some nice possibilities this weekend....

thanks Ghost, i appreciate it. this is a great place to be, i'm just more selective about my plays these days, it's a drought.

that's a hell of a lot of plays! i don't know enough about them to comment, i'm going to do some browsing and consider them myself, but good luck for now!

Evan's plays, my guess:

Ward/Buchanan under 11.5
Henry? money has come in on him
Maidana

is that correct? ive been considering henry and madaina myself, maybe the ward under. any insight on buchanan's chin?

I don't pay for Evan's plays...but I think Romi or Zerwas mentioned he is on Maidana

Buchanan has a good chin NJ
I would guess Ward wins an easy decision
but don't let me discourage you....
there is a chance that Ward is just too strong and fast for him, but he seems like he could go the route

Everyone seems to be on Henry (including me)
He has been impressive, but Mack can punch and is in good shape
this is going to be a good fight...I actually think the over 10.5 might hit...both very determined, both at pivotal career points

thx Ghost, I'll probably just stay away from it, focus on the Darch bout.

I see he made a play in the Ward fight, and the under line at + money seems the only logical bet, no way he's on Buchanan.

I agree about Mack/Henry. Graham is high on Madaina, that's probably my only other play for the weekend.

Jezus!!!!

Going against the board again :scared

Kotelnik to beat Maidana at -155. I will take the guy with the sturdy chin, decent skills and great stamina over the big puncher.

Arce to beat Darchinyan at +330. I will not bet against Arce's left hook to the liver.

Tonight I am on Cooper to beat Williams at +145.
Cooper was a good kickboxer but was too small for some of those animals.
In K1, he proved to have a very good chin.
As a boxer he has a good chin but no punch.
"King" Arthur is ancient and past his prime by about 20 years.
I think he got his nickname from his freinds, the knights of the round table.
He also had a fancy sword at one point.

Old dirty's over 6 1/2 is just about a sure thing for this fight.

Good luck fella's :toast: :toast: :toast:

quick notes:

I am leaning toward Demarco by decision...Diamond too unreliable...may see how I do tonight first

old dirty...don't blame you at all for taking the over 5.5 in Guerrero-Rosada...I am taking a shot at a pick em there. I feel the kid will be inspired to perform by the hometown crowd. Rosada's win over James Moore means nothing to me.

I agree with Weepaul on Cooper-Williams. Here is what happened in the first bout:

Former IBF crusierweight champion and current WBC USNBC interim titleholder ?King? Arthur Williams (45-15-1, 30 KOs) will meet Dewey Cooper (17-2-3, 10 KOs) in a rematch on February 6th at the Tachi Palace Casino in Lemoore, California. Williams and Cooper met last October 23, 2008 for the same title. Due to an accidental head butt in the fifth round which caused a giant gash on Williams? forehead, the fight was stopped and Williams won by TD. "

This rematch is going over 6.5. Good bet paulie !
