Wallace upgraded to probable

The running back situation improved slightly for UL's football team Wednesday, with backup tailback Deon Wallace taking a number of snaps and upgraded to probable for Saturday's Sun Belt Conference home opener against Troy.

Wallace had not practiced since suffering a triceps injury in the second quarter of last Saturday's 38-17 loss to McNeese State.

Regular starter Tyrell Fenroy, though, missed practice for the third straight session with a sprained ankle, also from the McNeese game, and is listed as doubtful for Saturday's 6 p.m. kickoff at Cajun Field.
"We all have to step up with Ty down," Wallace said. "He's a great back, but the rest of us have to step up and keep rolling."

Running backs coach Brian Jenkins held out hope that Fenroy could see some Saturday action.

"They're both a little nicked up," Jenkins said of Fenroy and Wallace. "He (Fenroy) had a bruised heel against Troy last year and he played. He'll be ready to go if he can."

The Cajuns are in disarray. Both RB's are hurt. 2nd team QB quit last week after the McNeese game. Theres no way they stop troy this week.
