This was an exceptional trade for the Tigers. To me it doesn't make sense to have a big power bat at that stadium for that price. Ian Kinsler is a going to be that spark plug guy who is going to get on base, maybe steal a base, and fills a key position at second base. It's much easier to find a DH/1B than a good hitting second baseman, they just don't grow on trees. Fielder's performance in the ALCS sealed the deal on this one.
You hit it on the head there BP with Fielder's post-season performance(s), he seems to disappear, one zone HR swing is it!! In Texas though, ball carries a lot better to RF!! But hence that fat contract he got as well as those who signed fat contracts, no pun intended, did diddly squat this past season, Hamels, Pujols, Zito, Carpenter, Verlander, Josh Johnson, I could go on and on, fat contracts do not produce productive players, they just make ML clubs go broke quicker and lose their hair!!
Later!!
PS: IE, that's a pretty good lineup for the AL West next year for show!!
