NFL YTD: 7-0 (+9.50*)
NCAA YTD: 9-4 (+4.15*)
ODDS and ENDS:
(1) My wagering goal at the start of every season is to finish up a combined 20 units in the NFL and NCAA, which I have never achieved. In other words, I should quit now. But I guess my real goal is to cap and prognosticate, then do it again, and have fun with the challenge, regardless of the losses.
(2) This is my twelfth season of posting my NFL and NCAA plays at Madjacks, and I?ve designated exactly two plays as a GOY: Detroit(-9) over Kansas City (48-3) in Week No. 2 last year, and San Francisco in Week No 2 this year. By GOY I just meant I could not envisage another play all year about which I could possibly feel any stronger. I can honestly say I felt exactly that way both times when I selectively used a GOY moniker, and it feels exceptionally good to now look back at being on the right side of both of those games.
(3) A record of 7-0 or 0-7 doesn?t color in the least my opinion on the brutal officiating this year. In point of fact, my concerns about the officiating are solely derived from my devotion to the Green Bay Packers and their pursuit of a 14th World Championship, and has nothing whatsoever to do with whether I think it justifies some whining about a $40 wager. In any event, how even a casual fan, much less a serious fan, can?t tell something is seriously deficient with the officiating across the board truly boggles my mind, and I guess my best retort to anyone who claims they really can?t see the plainly obvious is to quote the cry one of my buddies directs at officials of every stripe, ?Try using your good eye.?

- - Assuming the regular officials come back, the NFL has set them up to fail early by having them come back mid season without any opportunities to get up to speed. Just sayin'.
