The NCAA will consider postponing games in the men's and women's basketball tournaments, and other national championships, if war with Iraq begins this week. President Myles Brand acknowledged Monday for the first time that the NCAA was checking the availability of arenas and hotels for the days after first and second-round games are scheduled to be completed.

that's a very misleading subject line....the ncaa is "considering" it.

it's a good gesture, but can they realistically reschedule all the games? what aobut the people/teams who have already made travel plans? what about arena availability? is CBS pushing for this so they can avoid the financial disaster of having to put games on TNN?

and did they even CONSIDER that i've already asked for Thursday and Friday off?? :D

lol, maybe your boss can reschedule your sick days if they move the games. From what I have just heard on ESPN radio, CBS is very close to an agreement to move the first round coverage to ESPN in the event of the skirmish with Iraq. As far as the folks whom have allready made travel arrangements iguess they would be SOL, as the NCAA is now looking at alternative venues if the games cannot be rescheduled at their current arenas. MLB is also considering abandoning the opening games in Japan in the event of war.
