UConn (OVER) 6.5 season win total
Looking over all the questions I have to think the huskies are up to challege the big easy again. Rememner they were the co-big east champion. They were a 9-3 team and even though I do not think they have that typw of fortune this year they have the gas in the tank to at least win 7 games. They have solid recruits, the backing of the school, a good facility. strong coaches and EIGHTEEN returning starters. Thats pretty solid numbers from a good team coming back in a conference that I think is a little down this year. Plus they start the season with games against Baylor, Hofstra, UVA, UNC (doubt this because I think the tarheels are ready to make a move forward), Cuse and Temple. Not the hardest to get 5 wins against them. Other teams they go against that could be a win.

Looking at WVU they have to replace a lot of talent on defense and even though they have White and starter Devine they will still miss Dingle, Slayton, Reynaud, Scmidtt, Wick and a few other strong players. I am not sold on the new coach, the Neers had a lot of emotion going into the bowl game without coach Rod, but can the new coach bring the players to that emotional level all year.

Louisville is down with Brohm gone and a team still looking for a defense while not having the relaiable arm to lead the offense. I think they have a good head coach but this is not conference USA and Krabthrope will not have the sucess he did a few years ago while at Tulsa.

Pitt is on the rebound, they have the pieces in place but do the have the talent at QB and I am still not sold on Wadstat as a head coach. He is a good recuiter as McCoy shows but I have never seen the big game plan he should have implemented in big games. This is the year for Dave to make waves... big named RB, weapons at WR and talent on defense.

South Fla is the team to beat in the Big East they have a full stoked offense and defense and I think they will show last year was not a fluke. The Bulls have lost a little but they still have the majority of players returning and they should come to play in the big games.

Rutgers, this team is going to jump back. Losing Leanord was a punch, losing Rice is a kick to the head and I just don't think they have any talent at QB. They have the weapons at WR, but they lost some O-line talent and they just do not have the depth to replace it. I am not saying it is over but I am saying if UConn and Rutgers are playing I have to favor the huskies, but it will be a decent game.

Cincy I think losing Mauk will hurt a ton and even though Dantonio has a lot of players they lost a true leader and ball control guy and they do not have any type of help in Grutza. The defense is good, RB can play and WR are tough so in this game against UConn I have to give the edge to the bearcats but I could see the huskies going and getting the win.

So I think they have 5 wins maybe six against the few mentioned in the first paragraph then they have to get 1 or 2 against these other teams which I can see against L'Ville and Rutgers. So therefor for the first play of the season I have to think the huskies finish above 7 wins. I am not saying they are unbeatable and a lot hinges on the past year but I like it. Sure someone could be the next Rice, Brohm, Mauck but I think they have a show to get a few wins in conference and the early part of the games favors this play. IMO they take Baylor, Hofstra, UVA, Temple, Cuse, Louisville, Rutgers and either Pitt or Cincy. However the ball can bounce anyway and until week two or three who know what you are gonna get with some teams.

I am looking forward to another great season. More teams able to lock up talent means the landscape of college football is more competitive and everyone has a shot. Some have more of a shot then others but on any given saturday.

Here's to the start
Cheers

Corley1011,
Thanks for the response......
IMO this is the season that Miss St goes bowling again. Not a bowl after January but one of them, more than likely one of the lesser games. They have a lot of returning talent. Carroll returns and after a lot of time as a freshman he should be a little more polished and make a few more plays. BIG questions at offensive line. The lack of an established o-line is the reason I think they won'y get too far into bowl season. They have the skill with Dixon at RB, Smith and Burks at wideout. The reason I think they bowl is even though the SEC is a very tough conference they avoid Georgia, S.Carolina, and Florida. They get Auburn at home which should be a tough game but the cowbell and a new starting QB for the tigers should be a winable game. Kentucky has gaping holes to fill as does Arkansas so those are two winable home games. La Tech, SE Louisana, Georgia Tech, Vandy, Mid Tenn and Ol Miss should all be games that Miss st has the edge to win. Croom just got an extension through 2011 and with that job security I think his recruiting will be showcased. They have gotten a few players that should standout early. Of the twelve games I think they have a good shot to win about ten with loses AT LSU (maybe, but the tigers have a big hole at QB and some questions on defense), AT Bama (they should have a good season this year if Saban builds on what he had) and AT Tenn (the Vols have questions that need answers as well). Still playing AT LSU, BAMA and Tenn is going to be tough. With the questions on offenseline (3 sophmores perhaps a freshman mixed in) that prediction of ten wins can go to six and dissapontment if the inexperience cannot be fixed. The defense has a lot of returning players and should play better this year but they have the ability to be a good team this year. They finished 8-3 last season so I have a hard time thinking they go lower than that number, but they have to play well of they could easily lose tough in conference games to get them into a bowl but still not a player in the SEC.

Thanks Irish... I predicted State to go 8-4 or 7-5 this year... Burks was a senior last year and that will hurt us not having him... we also have Ducre' along with Dixon so our running game is gonna be good... Croom already has the #15 recruiting class for 2009... I think if we go bowling we'll be in one of these: Music City, Liberty, Outback, Independence, Peach

Thanks Kramer, I hope all is well with you.

The lad is good, he is a true hammer. Smashing into whatever he can as hard as he can. Fearless ankle bitter.

Looking forward to this season, and best of luck to you.
