OVER 8

Get this before it hits 8.5. With totals at 8 and 9, a 1/2 run move is huge. We've got a brand name pitcher (Glavine) who's struggled w/a blister problem, and we've got another pitcher (Taverez) who started the season horrendously, then started coming around into form, and now has reverted to very poor form in his last 2 starts. Florida has now gone over in all 6 games since the Floyd trade and their bullpen just pours more gas on the fire. The Marlin staff has given up 52 runs in the 6 post-break games.

Its at 8.5 now at Canbet, WWTS and Intertops as well. I'm curious to see how Taverez reacts today. He had a little run-in w/Sosa at the plate the other day and the Marlins made a number of stupid plays in the field. Julian is the type of pitcher who lets that stuff affect him. He's got a good arm, but psychologically, he's not always there.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
from newspaper writeup on Glavine's last start:

"Glavine (11-5) was replaced three batters later, after allowing his fourth walk, eighth hit and sixth run. He said the index-finger blister that affected him in four starts before the All-Star break wasn't a factor, just some lingering bad habits he developed while pitching with the blister.

Since going 6-0 with a 0.99 ERA in six starts from May 17-June 11, he's 0-3 with a 6.37 ERA in his past six. In his last four, he's been charged with 25 hits, nine homers and 11 walks in 17 2/3 innings..."

Tavarez is a horrible 8.58 era (3-3) on road this season. and 3-3, 9.00 era in day.

hot and humid in AT can't help a blister, or atleast, keeps you worrying about one...

can't believe....

can't believe....

.....how Atlanta went into "shutdown mode" after the 1st inning. Could've scored at least 5 runs in the 1st if Andruw didn't ground out into that DP, in fact. Then they kept the Marlins at bay the rest of the way to nab the UNDER comfortably.
